I just hope we don't play Bharat...  He must be one of the worst wk batters we have rn in India.  He was struggling to keep wickets vs pace & spin both in India.

I would have taken Sanju Samson over him anyday of the week.

Australia has Carey & we have this dud lol

Same Indian eggsperts who backed DK the bottler in WT20 are backing him lol

Would have been KL but now both him and Kishan are similar. Saha would have been a best choice still.

Should have let Saha and Gill open and go afte rbowling :)  Who are we kidding. There is no hiding from the fact that we will miss Rishab Pant hugely.

Wk don't open in Tests...  Especially when they finish keeping for 90 odd overs & then bat straightaway...  It's unrealistic.

They can try it only when they opt to bat first in only 1st inns.

KL the keeper would be perfect but out of Bharat & Kishan..  I'd take Kishan.  At least he is coming off playing high intensity cricket & is a actual left hander who can take advantage of a older ball in Flat Oval conditions.

Punter also has said he would pick Kishan I guess to rattle Aussies with a X factor pick.

Kishan is even worse keeper and can't play swing or spin. Not sure he can see off a tough spell too without trying something fancy.

Only advantage is he's a left hander but then Lyon would be tough for him.

I was just joking based on their partnership in IPL. Gill & Saha.   It is a travesty that nobody is in the league of Pant remotely.  If India wants to mask the batting weakness and tailender weakness they have no choice but to go with a better batsman especially when the designated specialist wicket keeper is no better than a part time keeper.

He has to be used strategically. Mostly low down the order with nothing to lose situation or just to give company to guys like Jadeja.

Has kept very well in IPl...  And is steadily improving.  Keeping on raging turners is tough than against pacers which i s considered to be much easier but a rookie Pant did alright during his first Eng tour.  Kishan is better gloveman than that 2018 version of Pant.

I am with Punter on this one...  Kishan v Bharat there is only one way we have a shot vs Aussies.

most likely he will be required to arrest a collapse and build a partnership.

I have a feeling he will turn into Akmal behind the wickets. Pant in 2018 was superfit and quick to react...I doubt Kishan is that flexible.

Selectors have to assemble top 10 keepers from India and do an evaluation. They have to adopt new selection strategy.  Right now they are doing a cop out. They just pick straight from IPL. Any monkey can do this kind of selection. You don't need to pay lakhs of rupees for selection like this.

Kishan is quite fit...  His ground fielding is in a completely different universe compared to Pant.

Bharat looks like a average keeper from whatever I saw in India.  Pant even in his rookie days wasn't this bad.

Plus his batting technique is dodgy with that front pad coming ahead of his bat.  Prime LBW/Bowled candidate.

Kishan is loose but I am not expecting much of a swing in Oval...  It will be more hit the deck stuff..  And Kishan loves that sorta bowling as he has destroyed Nortje in the past.

These one off tests with little to no build up require bold calls imo....  You can't go with a set plan & be too rigid.

It's all about handling pressure & having nerves of steel.

Team with more clutch players will win it.

Pant is a huge miss.  Even Pandya to an extent.

This is different from a series.  Both sides aren't battle hardened though Aussies are better prepared but nothing like NZ back in 2020 when they had a full series before the final.

Pujara had all the acclimitization. He better deliver. Not the 120 ball 35 runs.  He has to bat long and score as well.

Michael Neser bowling to Pujara in County match a few days back  - now admittedly this is not the same class as the exhilarating IPL..... so its kind of boring.

Govinda Govinda. If he plays like this he is not going to survive. He is clearly late on almost each ball.
