IPL pitches and ODI pitches can be significantly different. Last time we had an ODI here in B'lore - it was a 280 takes on 280 balanced ODI. Ahmedabad had a 300 + score way back in 2010 I think. Also, the 2 new balls will swing upfront and limit scores. The kookaburra has been an amazing ball offering balanced cricket for 2-3 years now. Number 1 Link to comment

Especially not in LOI's. He has plenty of weaknesses . Problem is only his own bowling attack will ruthlessly expose them. I really wish our team buys in to the idea that you have to attack one side and not bowl to spread fields. Our attack keeps hunting for wickets all the time - especially Siraj. Someone like Stokes just needs good, defensive bowling - slow, wide cutter and packed off side field - keeping him quiet is even better than getting him out. Link to comment

In a crunch game a score of even 270-280 will be a winning total more often than not, leave alone 300. Link to comment

There's a wider variety of pitches than a bilateral and then you get used surfaces etc. Also, it might be the kookaburra ball. Not enough attention is given to it. They seem to provide different balls for ICC tournaments sometimes. 2013 - 2020 kookaburra ball was rubbish but in the 2019 World Cup, the bowlers said that the ball had a different "finish" and was doing a bit more than usual upfront - hence the lower scores. According to Cricviz, the white ball has swung more in first 10 overs of an ODI in 2023 than in any year starting from 2006. It's increasingly becoming a bowler-friendly game and has been so since 2021. We can expect lower scores than usual at certain venues Edited September 14, 2023 by Nikhil_cric Link to comment
