5 batsmen and 5 bowlers strategy was going to risky all the time

This has to be the biggest defeat for us - World cup final in our conditions, BCCI offering used pitch to our team, game in front of our own crowd, 99.9% crowd cheering for us where we were favorites to win and then we lose.

We all have  seen many Indian defeats - t20 world cup semi final loss at home, wWorld cup 2003 final defeat to world cup 2019 semis defeat etc. So its not like this is new  to us, but losing this one will be biggest as we were serious favorites and it being at home.

At the end of the day, on big occasion, we are mentally not the same as our opponent Australia. When your captain says we would have batted if we had won the toss, and other captain shows more guts to field first (going against norm of batting first in the big game), then it must be reminded to fans, in particular Indian fans that you can replace Dhoni with Kohli, Kohli with Rohit as captain or bring in any new captain Pandya or whoever you want, unless your team, management, Captain and players are mentally tough to chase in a big game like today, like how Aussies were today when they chose to chase in a big game, or serious middle order of Dhoni’s 2011 team, we will always lose big games even if we luckily get to bat first on a flat pitch in the future. I wouldn’t blame Rohit for the team but fans should know how mentally goood or bad their team is to handle big occasions.

We depend too much on traditions. I was reading ICF as a guest last few days and noticed so much love for “lets not change winning combination” etc. All of this came back to hurt us.

Lesson number 1 - play to the merit, and forget about traditions or not changing winning combination. We haven’t won anything the in last 12 years following this theory of “not changing the winning combination.”

Time to move on and have a captain who can make gutsy decisions to push players to be less timid on big days.

Rohit was good in playing gutsy cricket with his bat, but not enough to push other middle or lower order bats to improvise their game. Time for a new captain now who can push the culture of more strike rotation than play 20 dot ball culture.

IPL performances are now dictating selections in all teams.

The IPL has ruined the beautiful game of cricket.

By that I mean it has ruined the importance of India winning Trophies and most importantly making team India distant second priority.

A players priority has completely changed. I know that the IPL provides so many economic opportunities to many and vast array people in India but it  has damaged cricket.

Im glad I got to enjoy and experience the game of cricket in India before IPL. Its a time that will never happen again.

The state of cricket and enjoyment factor was much better before the IPL. Playing for India and watching India play was such an exciting and enjoyable time.

Ganguly did this in 2003 and gets panned for it till date. Every gutsy decision gets judged as such or foolish based on the outcome it would seem.

It's another debate whether he would have actually chosen to bat if he won the toss though.

Having 3 frontline pacers in playing11 is a good idea only if atleast 1 of them has the ability to hang around with the bat and score 15-20 runs down the order.  If all 3 are absolute duds with the bat, you can never win any ICC tournament in any format.  Bumrah and Shami hv been playing intl cricket for too long.  Their batting abilities hv not improved at all. And the TM is least concerned.  Same with Kuldeep.  He just looks to dead bat everything and looks very satisfied after successfully playing too many dot balls even in the 50th over.  LOL
