Yeah but I want him to bat at #3 in ODIs.  It's a bit different.  Im not sure he's dynamic enough but no harm trying . He's too good a talent to be lost in the system.

Anyway I don't think it's mandatory for Gill to open if he continue to struggle against moving ball. Sai's calmness can be perfect foil to Jaiswal's aggression.

I was thinking in terms of left right combo. But Gill at #3 is fine too going forward.

 #3 should be very good player of Pace as very likely early wicket falling in one dayers is a high probability. Iyer can be a MO batter 4-5

Sai looks a longer format prospect plus ODI.  Like this selection from future POV - this one as well Pradosh on A team . Kudos to selectors !

Pitch has definitely gotten easier but still very watchable .

Gill is definitely not set in stone in any format.we all know he struggles against any kind of movement but now he is getting out playing across which should not happen for a player like him.

So far one weakness that i have spotted is playing across right infront of the wicket.

They all have technical weaknesses - Gill, Sai, Varma - all of them.  Unless they play Test cricket that's not going to improve all of a sudden.

This guy is surely test class Sudarshan...  Need such players in Eng.  Plays the ball very late.  Strong square of the wicket too.  Old school technique

If you look at him he has a beautiful trigger movement. He tries to come forward to every ball. Moment he sees it a touch short he stands where he is and plays.

His game vs swing looks better than Ishan, Iyer, Ruturaj . Defence is tighter than Gill too .  So looks much better prospect to me looking at his age . I am talking from long format POV. Did not see him beaten by pace even at 90+ miles of Burger . Need to watch a bit more of him vs targeted bumpers .
