India squad for T20 series against Afghanistan announced - Rohit & Kohli returns

I still feel batting is not the problem for this t20 squad, it is bowling they have zero wicket takers coupled with Bumrah who chokes under pressure big time, they  have no one who can get batsmen out.

 

169 was defendable if India had bowlers who could take wickets. England won that world cup due to their bowling not their firepower in batting.

 

If not for Shami , Indian bowlers led by great Bumrah were ready to choke 395 also.

 

Bowlers need to raise their level in knockouts too.Why is it always batsmen who have carry the burden.When has this Indian bowling attack led by Bumrah done well in knock out matches.

I agree to some extent but when you take zero wickets, no score is defendable.

 

Take couple of early wickets whole thing changes on its head.

 

England reached 139 in finals in 19 plus overs unlike against India.Different ground but Indian bowling in t20s is the worst bowling attack with bozos like Arshdeep.

I have maintained our poor aggressive play against half decent spin is a major major problem. 

Sole reason guys like Ish Sodhi Santner,  Adil Rashid Zampa have stifled us in big games. 

Unless we have some left handers to take on leggies or Left arm spinners we will never be able to post above par scores in crucial T20 games.

Adelaide oval was a road. We saw that against BD as well. But for that freak run out Litton Das wou have won it for BD. Even their bowlers travelled but only at the end because that is when we showed intent. THat was a rubbish English attack. Besides we carried a poor attack to begin with. Arshdeep was a rookie. Bhuvi is a trundler. Ashwin for no reason picked for world T20.  We still did okay in the world T20 except semi final.  Batsmen put up a subpart total. Indian bastmen failed in world T20, 2021, 2022, Asia cup 2022.

India does not have fire power to match other team in batting.170 is very respectable score in t20s. England reached the traget in 16 overs.They would have scored 230 also against that Indian bowling attack.

 

No bowlers have done nothing. You cannot keep expecting batsmen to score 200 plus every match.

Where are the wicket taking bowlers in white ball cricket, that is first question which needs to be asked for this t20 squad.

 

They kept Bhuvi in the team for 10 years as he was so called death over specialist, that moron could get a wicket if his life depended on it.

 

Now they have another so called yorker specialist in Arshdeep.How can anyone expect miracles from this team with this sort of bowlers.

IN terms of experience our batting was vastly experienced. Bowling was not. So let us not deflect towards bowling. Arshdeep was barely in his first season. Bhuvi has limitations. No Bumrah, No Shami, No Siraj. Ashwin was a completely botched up selection. This is T20 where batsmen will come after you. So batsmen have to take the initiative. If you score 25 runs on an average in the first 6 overs this is what happens.

Kohli is good for a total like 160. Not for total like 200. SKY is the only legit T20 player who incidentally goes missing in big matches.. Kohli/Rohit should have left the scene long back. We saw him in the IPls emi final where he was focusing on his milestone. Gill made 100 in 50 balls and outplayed him.

Core of discussion is that no matter whom we select, we are going to get pasted again in the T20 WC.

We may have the best six hitter, best T20 batsman, best bowler and what not..as a team we are not good enough.

 

Before every tournament we have the same problem..till last moment we are trying to fit in the players and at the end we send a team which is handicapped & unstructured and has no coordination amongst themselves.

Not being political but the current team seems to me as "I.N.D.I. Alliance".

I completely disagree, they never had good support bowlers who could raise their level in knockout matches.

 

If we have biggest choker in guy like Bumrah who goes missing the moment pressure is on as ace bowler what can this team win.

Sorry I must have forgotten,  when did we have best t20 six hitter in a  world t20 tournament and best bowler in t20 world cup.

 

We did have best batsman for a tournament in 2014  but he never got any support from other end from bowlers.

 

Three good players will not win you world cup. Load has to be distributed.I would be mighty suprised if India reaches final in t20 world cup.

T20 is about getting wickets/ You get 10 wicket sin 20 overs? It is about economy. Just bowl any random leg spinner to Kohli. He will get stuck going nowhere. Be it is shadab khan or adil rashid or ish shodi. Same way just bowl any condition even with slight movement Rohit will be going nowhere.  These guys are playing for more than a decade. 

Let us admit it. Our batsmen are just not good enough compared to other teams. Give the same bowlers to team like England. They will win it. They won with Sam Curran who regularlly got butchered in LOIs.

That lost was always on the cards,complain is bowlers should have made it tough for England

England with that T20 heavy artillery lineup was always gonna feast on sub 170 par totals

We needed 200+ there to make a match of it with that pedestrian attack

Out of 5 ,4 were never going to test English lineup without the cushion of runs,they couldn't have even stopped England in search of 200

Thats ok, Kohli still got you to 160- 170. which is perfectly okay for knockout match.Stop blaming batsmen for everything. 

 

 

Again stop lumping Rohit with Kohli. Kohli in his worst phase is better than Pandya who is our finisher on his best day overall for a tournament.

 

Who said t20 is all about economy, cricket is all about taking wickets, that has never changed. You need to take wickets to slow  wrun rate down.

 

You keep lolipop bowlers like Bhuvi, Arshdeep in the name of economy ,team will never win anything.

 

Our bowlers in t20s especially were not good enough.Sam Curran won England the world cup finals with his bowling.

 

When Indian bowler wins any knockout match with his bowling we will talk about batsmen failing bowlers.
