Ranji performers

Recommended Posts

There are many players who are consistent in domestic tournament ,but never given a chance to be selected at the highest level.

We are not talking a about players a decade back ie Amol Mujumdar, but many such players are still playing in.Ranji Trophy.

Jalaj Saxena is a opener ,who can bowl offspin .He   become only the third player in domestic cricket history to achieve the rare double of 9000 runs and 600 wickets during a Ranji Trophy

With 50 wickets, Saxena also finished as the highest wicket-taker in the 2022-23 season of Ranji Trophy.

Rajasthan pacer Aniket Chaudhary, showcasing remarkable prowess in the ongoing Ranji Trophy, has seized 21 wickets in just nine innings at an impressive economy rate of 2.33. His stellar performances extend to the Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he claimed 19 wickets across eight games. In the previous Ranji Trophy season, Aniket scalped 30 wickets in 12 innings.

Shahbaz Nadeem.has 465 wickets in Ranji Trophy.

He finished consecutive years – The 2015–16 Ranji Trophy and 2016–17 Ranji Trophy seasons with the most wickets in the competition, with a total of 51 and 56 dismissals respectively.[4] He was also the leading wicket-taker for Jharkhand in the 2017–18 Ranji Trophy,

most of these players are quite ordinary, barring saxena who did deserve a run in tests IMO

Priyanka Panchal is another one who has an average of 45 across 119 FC matches with 8k plus runs.

His form though has dwindled from past 2-3 years (maybe coz he lost all hopes) but was a serious performer till 2019-20.

Ram Dayal from J&K comes to my mind as another fast bowling allrounder.

There are many more ie Panchal,Ram Dayal,Murasingh,Paras Dogra,Rishi Dhawan,Aditya Tare,.etc

Rishi Dhawan has played for India...his batting was tailender worthy at that time and bowling was even worse than Ganguly.

Now he's around 33-34, seems to have improved his batting. Bowling wise I won't comment coz any bowler who can bowl line and length even at 115k can pickup truck load of wickets in domestics.

nadeem already played for india

1 match against England that we ended up losing, was promptly discarded after that with Axar brought in who got a bucket load of wickets on dust bowls and has been undroppable since.

Is this thread for those who will never make it to the Indian team?

India could have easily field two international teams, given the uncle quota in the national team, the 2nd team would have been something special and elite. I definitely would have been following and supporting them on an international stage.

Before anyone laughs, Australia did this in their triangular tournament in the 90s, where they fielded Australia, Australia A and England.

NOTE The Australian A team was more followed, loved and supporter than the national team.

Nadeem had 8 wickets in 2 test ,bowling alongside Bumrah,Shami,Ashwin,Jadeja,Sundar,Ishant. He should not have been dropped as the failure was more on seniors than him

Nadeem can't hold a bat, and from what we saw in Chennai 2021, doesn't have any zip or control over line/length. Of course team would prefer Axar. Got to stop overhyping many of these domestic bullies.

some of them were better though than nadeem. saxena has been better than nadeem for a long time. not saying that he should have been selected though
