England and false bravado

Recommended Posts

The real irony is that one of England's worst defeats ever and India's biggest wins ever (run wise) is a byproduct result of Bazball.

If they did not have the mindset of Bazball in every game, Hitman probably would have declared at 400, even 450.

Hitman without any doubt decided on 550+ (because of Jaiswal double as well) to give him that extra buffer for Bazball and also because they had around 140+ overs to get those 10 wickets.

Absolutely. Right from the player interviews during the match and also in the comm box. These ‘bazball’ clowns need to be brought back to reality. Need complete dominance in the remaining 2 matches.
Their bowling is so f ordinary right now probably the weakest among the top 5. And look at the delusion these guys have got. The way Jaiswal treated Anderson in the last match should have made it clear.

The reason why they won a test and pushed us so hard so far is bazball, those innings from Pope and Duckett, Crawley form... the freedom it gives them... they're up against two all time great spin bowlers and giving them a tough time. It is working.

No . They won as dravid rightly pointed out we left about 100 runs short in first innings .

Jaiswal , patidar , gill are new to test cricket . Bharat was useless with bat . Still they barely won by 30 runs when India was chasing in final innings.

now with jaiswal . Sharma . Rahul . Khan . Gill . Jurel . Jaddu ash - we have more settled lineup . Bazball failed on flat pitches with subpar batting - kohli , rahul absent . Pant kishan not there . Shami absent .

Sehwag was the best exponent of bazball . But never seen him not play a percentage shot . He didn’t try to sweep shoaib akhtar . Aggression with smartness is needed . Think Indians have done it well - khan , gill , sharma , jaiswal have been aggressive .

aggression can be scoring runs or not loosing wicket. Pujara knock against Aussie helped pant play aggressive and win historic series . This English team would have been out for 100 by lunch .

Hitman declared based on time and how pitch was playing . It was still good for batting . The English blindly swept or ran like mad hares . U can’t chase 200 with those stupid shots .

Rohit gave enough time for his bowlers to bowl out . The total was out of reach beyond 400 but he continued so that in evening not more than 30 overs to bowl

Let's not give the Aussies that much credit, the original assault from what I remember started under WI - Roy Fredericks, Lloyd, Greenidge & of course Viv. Oz played on super flat surfaces during their peak. Which of course kinda elevates the impact of McWarne :smokin:

hayden , Ricky , langer , giily , symonds- they played high strike rate . Gilly and Hayden were sweeping and swept their way to victory in first test .. Bhajji was nascent .

we came up with Laxball to defeat a historically v v superior team . Our fast  bowling was slightly inferior ( no bumrah or Shami but still had sreenath / prasad / young Zaheer if I recollect but not a consistent lineup )

that aussie team defeated every team handsomely in that era . Flat pitches yes - but run rate was highest of Aussies . It was v v sensible aggression .

Ben Duckett scored 151 of 150 deliveries. England is talking as if he scored 151 of 50 balls.

Sehwag scored 293 of 250 deliveries way back in 2010. Duckett was talking as if Jaiswal was copying bazball.

nathan astle scored much faster than duckett too in his famous 200. so did victor trumper around 120 yr ago

That Nathan Astle innings was flukey innings .He was just swinging for fences when match was gone from his hand.

Duckett innings is far more impressive than Astle's innings.Sehwag brutally slapped Murali and Herath who have 1200 plus wickets between them.

Murali said many times Sehwag was most difficult batsman than any other batsman he ever faced his career.Sehwag slapped Murali around both home and away.

it was a fairly decent attack, and one point with cairns, it looked feasible.

the point being that there were many stunning attacking one-off innings before duckett, no matter what Eng press says. one of the ATG knocks at near-100 SR was roy fredricks vs lillee-thommo-walker.

I agree completely. These bozos are acting as if they have changed the game .Duckett was claiming, Jaiswal got inspired by Bazball  too.

I love Bazball. Those who cry about it have no clue what they are talking about.

England before Bazball were a rubbish team. Now they are atleast competing and it also can end careers of trash bowlers like Umran and Prashit

Imagine them bowling to this Eng team. Would concede 100 in 10 overs

Like Gutka Chaap. Looks like Unran has hit you in the balls in nets.Keep doing RR about a young bowler who dint even debut in test.

And who is saying he needs to be in test format. However Gutkesh koomar should be limited to playing domestic cricket like yourself , Vinni Koomar and Pankaj Simgh.

Praveen Coomer was good in his limited Test career, since he was used in the right conditions. ended with a good test avg unlike Vinny Coomer
