Hope yesterday's win has ended the KO mental block for Team India. Before the drought period, we had one of the best KO records against Aus.

1998 and 2000 CT

2007 WT20

2011 WC QF

And that Aussie team had a bigger aura.....this Aussie side is gun but not as ugly as Waugh/Ponting led ones.

having said that it hit me this morninh, that i wont see two players i loved a lot int20s but i can  watch them in tests, odis n ipl.

Think for us it was more a run of bad luck and some brain dead decisions. 2015 sf vs aus for example we had past it dhoni, jadhav and rahane...we had no hope in hell vs aus. 2023 we tried being too cute with the pitch.

Now that the jinx has lifted our players will play freely. We need better selections too.

We were the best team in 2023 WC. We had everything. We played slow in final once we lost Rohit same template as yesterday. It was a disaster. We had best pace attack, spin. Hardik was out could have changed the game if he was in.

We haven't killed Aus in a KO since 2011 WC QF.

3/3 for them. Let us start by winning one, then make such statements.

We won 4 test series in a row. That's better than any rubbish wtc final concept that too in England which makes no sense. Right after IPl when we are tired.

But yes the 2023 loss hurt. This t20 makes up for it though. We beat them en route to winning the cup

1 down

Just need to bloody win in odi. But Aussies are king of odi kos.

We are better in t20. In tests in a proper series we are better there too.

Kohli by himself has more ICC tourneys (3 - 2011 ODI WC, 2013 CT, and 2024 WT20) than what Pakistan have in their own history :hysterical:

As my signature shows we rule Asia and Aussies are the only team ahead. 2023 ODI WC still hurts as that was the tourney India really deserved if it hadn't been such a poor pitch.

A word also on Bangla losers. There's am extremist loser on peepee called sweepshot leeching money in a Western country and trying to subtly impose his extremist ideology. This loser is from Bangla and his only dream is to see india lose. loser fans of a disgusting team who will never amount to anything in life.

I see Bangla trolls all the time on SM. They are worse than Pakistanis, the hate they have for India.....since most of their sick thoughts are in Bengali, I don't share them here.

Bangladesh fans are more to be pitied than anything else. Their plight is even worse than Pakistan fans. At least Pak had a history and India looks forward to beating them in World Cups. But nobody even cares about B'desh and the only thing they have to look forward to is their glorious rivalry with Sri Lanka

If we won wc 2023 and wtc finals

We would have similar amount of icc titles as Aussies. All of those we could have won at full strength. Sadly got away.

Also 2017 lol.

And 2014 iccbtitle. We should have beaten lanka.

Even if india struggle vs bdesh I barely tune in. I don't consider them a team. Only watch India vs paak in asia

In the end it kinda evens out. We were on the right side of 2 thrillers in both t20 WC wins for example. We were never really a great t20 or even the best team in any of the t20 wcs we lost; 2014 and 2016 we were good but we had a useless Yuvraj and were opening the batting with Rahane if I remember well.

Yup, we always messed up our team selections. Carrying a clearly done Yuvraj in 2014, and someone like Rahane in 2016 cost us 2 tourneys. We should've won at least one of those.

Here also we carried a few passengers but our bowling, especially Bumrah, and Pandya saved the day. The day we start selecting teams on merit you'll see us dominate cricket like no other team. We're consistently reaching finals even with one hand tied behind our backs due to these selections. Imagine if we have everyone selected on merit!

I think the only ones that really got away were CT 2017 and ODI WC 2023. The first was a brain dead decision to bat first and in the second we simply didn't need to play games with the pitch. On a true flat indian surface we would have demolished Aus, head or no head.

Also wtc 2021. Should have won that. We were tired after IPl. Poor scheduling and no match practice. Nz played bloody England before final in English conditions

Wrong selection there too. Siraj was on fire and had a good record vs nz. Bumrah played injured. He had a niggle. They rushed him. He got injured again soon after.

Also 2023 wtc could have gone better as we missed players.

As for t20 yea we dint deserve to win the ones from 2020 to 2022. Dint have the right team and also we were tired yet again from IPL.

2019 wc we for unlucky with rain. We played on day 2. Like a test match wicket. It's bs. Unfair.

Should have been whoever finished higher on table should have gone through.

New Zealand would have lost to us had we played on the same day the official match was scheduled.

I am pretty sure in the finals we would have beaten England that year.

So true. IMO WT20 in 2014 and 2016 were also the ones we should've won, or at least one of them. In 2014 we were in a good enough shot to put up a total around 150-160 which would've been a winning one on that pitch. But then Yuvraj came to the crease and stalled the innings scoring 13 off 21! The sad part is we had Raina who couldn't even get a chance to bat. He should've been the one to come in ahead of Yuvraj given the form Raina was in, and his knock against SA in the semis the previous game. That simple mistake of sending Raina ahead of Yuvraj cost us the 2014 WT20.

Regarding WT2016, we had the game in the bag despite Rahane's crawl at the top. Just like CT2017, the no-balls cost us. Ashwin got a wkt of a no-ball and WI would've been 40 odd for 2 off 7 overs with momentum with India. That no-ball changed the game altogether. In the finals India would've been hot favorites against Eng as that Eng team wasn't the beast it would become in 2019. And Kolkatta pitch was spin friendly and would've favored us. At the very least we should've won one of WT2014 or 2016.

The CT2017 was such a gimme. I still can't think why Kohli chose to bat against Pak of all the teams. Against teams like Pak or SA who crumble under pressure, and can't chase, you chase unless there's going to be dew. On a flat pitch on a sunny day, all we had to do was bat first, put runs on the board, and watch the fun the way we do in all the WC matches. That one is on whoever decided to bowl first.

W2021 was win toss win match crap shootout. I don't think we had a good enough side then anyway with trundler bhuvi opening.

2019 I agree with the SF but a more measured approach and we would have still won. As jadeja showed it wasn't impossible. However a team which had a completely past it dhoni, jadhav and dinesh karthik did not deserve to win. On top of it we had Kela opening.

Agreed on all counts. The yuvraj selection is up there with one of the biggest blunders in Indian cricket.
