BCCI better focus on 2028 LA. One gold in men, any medal in women (gold looks impossible), will push us up by 10-20 places.......BCCI owes at least this much to the country, treat it at par with WCs.

Talent doesn't grow on Trees... you have to nurture and provide the best facilities for children to be able to take up a sport alongside sport pedigree which means coaches are in the system. Even if its not to complete, kids in India don't even have time or parental backing to do these sports for pleasure.

For the case of professional sports I would agree, but Olympics is for amateur and semi professionals. If you have talent , it's not that difficult ,they even train abroad.

Finally we have beaten a Korean Team. Korea must be hurting now. Kal ka archery ka dard thoda kam hua. Even in sleep I was having nightmare  of that weird sunglasses archer who was shooting 7 for fun chewing bubble gum. Even in my nightmare i was sure he would miss his mark, even if I was the target..

We seem good at wrestling men and women. Well men it's more 5th to 7th ish.

But we can definitely improve.

Wonder if we can do well in judo. We don't have good trainers though.

Why doesnt the Lottery system in India cant fund sports like the National Lottery does in the UK? The equivalent is 2600 Crores that lottery in UK spends on funding sport. One example where Lottery is funding facilities in schools in UK

How much does the National Lottery fund sport?

Each year we invest over £250m of National Lottery and government money to help people play sport and take part in physical activity. As we receive more applications than we can fulfil, we have to decide which projects to prioritise.

Castlederg High School - Synthetic Turf Pitch

£1,070,524 to Western Education and Library Board on 27 October, 2005

To provide the rural community of Castlederg with a full-size synthetic turf pitch, tennis court, adequate floodlighting and changing facilities, based at Castlederg HS. As well as serving the pupils at 2 Castlederg post primary schools, it will also provide facilities for 11 local primary schools. Out of school hours, it will be open to the public, local sports clubs and organisations and used by approx 1600 children in curriculum time & 1015 adults, including those with learning & physical disabilities. View full grant details
Location
Clare, Derry City and Strabane
Grant Programme
New Opportunities for PE and Sport

We dont have an organised nationwide National Lottery scheme which UK and USA have. We have state lotteries run by government.

Wrestling is amateur or professional? Have you seen the following of that sport at NCAA level, or in places like Dagestan, Georgia, Iran?

Daniel cormier finished 4th in Olympics. Become world champion mma fighter in heavyweight and light heavyweight. Natural fighter at that too.not steroid monkey like Jon Jones.

Olympic wrestling weight lifting judo and even boxing are cream of the crop sports people that represent their countries.

Amateur boxers in Olympics go on to become pros or get gov jobs as in the case of poorer nations.

Pakistanis so bitter about India's medals. Bangladeshis too would be, but Sk Hasina has cut their net.

@Gollum

Can we beat Germany in hockey in kos?

We have given them a hard time in the past but not sure if we can win. They thrashed SA so far.

We can beat any team, even Aus. Sure Aus, Dutch, Bel will be tougher than most but there are 7-8 medal contenders this time.

if you leave a startup to form your own and yours fails while the original company becomes huge, it would hurt.

india's successes accentuate their failures.
