Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, 76, and her sister took a military helicopter to India's eastern state of West Bengal, according to media reports, which is just across the border. Another report, however, said she was headed to India's northeastern state of Tripura.

Reports of Ms Hasina's resignation were confirmed by the army, as well as Bangladesh High Commission Officials in Delhi.

Bangladesh's army chief, General Waker-Us-Zaman, addressed the country saying there would be a solution to the crisis "by tonight".

He said he was in talks to form an interim government.

Open season for Islamists and Evangelicals in the north east.... Indian ambitions to dominate Indian Ocean take a massive nosedive.

All in all this is a absolute catastrophic development.

Huge W for Americans in the long term.  Chinese won't be too displeased either as India is now pinned down in South Asia.

Radical Idea... If Hasina does comes to Delhi & seeks help we should directly move our forces and take matters into our own hands.

Another Rajiv Gandhi moment sure but this has to be done.

Dhaka will fall in a couple of days at best.  Take out the top military establishment.  Sanctions will be imposed but who cares.

Students are so powerful there or what? How can they bring a govt down due to Quota rules?

I am sure this movement is backed by external forces

There is nothing to be sure... Hasina has openly called out USA.

Also the Christian country being carved out of North east BD and Myanmar is ultimate goal of US.

Ok then...  Another puppet US state loading.

Is she deposed because US or china ? Recently she chose India over china for a big project. This might be china with ISI support. The protests are led by opposition.
