When you replace local zameendars or rajas, that is the hardest period of conquest ( and why it rarely happened in India) , the local population goes into rebellion/deep distrust of the new lords they are dealing with and regions have productivity issues- economic and military.

I know about the Senas, I take umbrage about them being the reason of the Bengali downfall because they came from Karnataka. I don't know much about rebellion they faced in that region, but Kannada was not promoted by this region Rajas wherever they conquered, but Bengal saw an influx of Sanskrit into its culture in this period. There were many conquests of Kadambas, Pallavas and Cholas across the deccan, but language, culture and religion was never imposed on common people.
