ravishingravi Posted September 21, 2025 Author Posted September 21, 2025 Anyone with H1B and without a roadmap to GC should start considering options. At the bare minimum, this is clear.

If you are skilled , have the right salary commensurate to H1B , have the right credentials and not entered by misusing the H1B route , there is little to worry about.
crictime Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 (edited) Trump seems to be reacting because India did not open the agriculture and dairy sector to America. It is good India kept the interest of locals by protecting the agriculture and dairy sector which forms the core of the economy. Let America try these Visa antics but Indian government should keep the interest of Indian locals who are the core supporters of India and whose interests are aligned with India. crictime Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 China and US have screwed Pakistan by killing their economies. India should not allow by giving US a free hand in some important sectors. Just like US does not allows transfer of technology of advansed warfare planes in spite of paying for the fighters in full, India should prevent the access to crucial sectors which majority of India depends upon. The message given by Indian government was totally in interest of Indians regarding access to agriculture and dairy sector and I hope our government stands by it irrespective of H1B is doubled or tripled. So far so good. G_B_ and ravishingravi 1 1
Tillu Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 F1 students doing their masters will not be affected by this. They can apply for H1B without paying the petition fee. Going forward doing masters in US will be the only way to fulfill the American dream. This will also open up a lot of L1 Visas. Now people struggling to get a job could be easily hired and retained. ravishingravi and MK55 2

Youth unemployment for grads on average 15% and rising. ravishingravi 1

I have seen GC and citizens in USA not getting IT jobs for years now. This is a result of easy immigration policies during previous regime. U.S. got 4 lakh students just from India. Every job application gets 300-400 applicants within first few hours. I know lot of desi students are doing odd jobs like working on food trucks, restaurants, delivery and as uber drivers. This is not sustainable in long term. The restriction might be bad for high skilled from other companies than wipro, tsc and infosys companies. G_B_ and ravishingravi 1 1

No point blaming others if one takes the risk with H1B and buys a house etc. Ditto with the F1 visa. It is not the 90s ravishingravi 1

MK55 Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 If someone on H1B has been living for 10 years with a decently paying job, it’s absolutely their fault (given the misfortune of country caps course), that they haven’t done at least something to get a permanent route. It’s 100 percent unfair (coz of all these consulting H1Bs driven backlog over multiple years plus caps) but it is what is.

ravishingravi Posted September 21, 2025 Author Posted September 21, 2025 Looks might major Indian community funding getting ready for democrats. Doesn't change anything now. The vicious hatred is amplified.
MK55 Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 Also how many people in well paying jobs end up directly as visa applicants from outside? It’s either guys with some education in the US (residency, PHd, Masters …) or very rarely exceptional L1 transfers? This abuse should have been stopped long long time back. This whole back log situation would have been better. But anyways the way this administration is handling this (they don’t even intend to solve besides appeasing the voter base) is volatile and not right. pkmmamks 1

Better than returning to India though in distress situation like this in H1B. Happened around 2012 also Path to citizenship is sooner in Canada and then you can be back in US with a TN1 visa. Nobody I know of came back from Canada despite having lower pay from US. MK55 1
kosingh Posted September 21, 2025 Posted September 21, 2025 (edited) The tending of EB1 and EB2 visa could be more problematic than this 100k h1b fee. (If it actually happens). At least a pending EB app allows one to extend H1b beyond 6 years. But if that route is closed, then h1b is totally not worthwhile for employers and employees alike. The investment is kind of scam as well. EB5 was exploited by Indians initially but now even it is tightened. Partner is a different thing man you have to live with someone for rest of your life. Just for green card one shouldn’t marry someone else.
