Chickened out of the Rapids with the Jeans drama when he had literally no chance of catching up with the leaders. And now talking Nepo into playing draws in the Blitz... This is beyond shameful. Vickydev Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Magnus showed real vulnerability in these Championships. Niemann almost got him in the quarters..his hands were shaking and was making blunders. Letting a 2-0 lead slip in the finals...I think he knows this is the last big opportunity to grab a win. The young players are very good Having said that, we have no one in speed chess good enough atm. Pragg loses every crunch game even against players around his age, Arjun plays too risky for the big guys.

Was played by Alireza and Magnus I think in the final game of the regular format when both needed a draw to qualify for knockouts. Nobody can do anything in these cases Vijy 1

The loser of the world chess championship no longer automatically qualifies for the candidates. It’s a long tough process to even qualify for the candidates and then winning it. I don’t think since the last 50-55 years, the holder of the title has reclaimed his title after losing it. So now Carlsens only intent is to milk chess financially by bullying FIDE for his own commercial interests. I don’t think he has serious chess interests.
