rtmohanlal Posted January 11 Posted January 11 (edited) He was one of the premier singers of South India & there by the entire nation. He passed away on 9th by around 8.00 pm .He was 80 years old. Had till date sung around 10000 songs in various languages & various genres in his sweet bass masculine voice .Having heard 100s of his songs till date & there by a big fan of him , I can assure that he was a complete all round singer and there by a legendary one at that .He has sung in Malayalam,Tamil,Telugu,Kannada, Sanskrit,Hindi & even in Sinhalese too. Folk songs, romantic songs, patriotic songs, sad songs, devotionals , semiclassicals , classicals ..... he has sung them all . A contemporary of the phenomenon KJ.Yesudas , he was a child hood friend of his too . Jayachandran was a big fan of Rafi sir.He is widely regarded as Kerala's 2nd best singer behind the phenomenon K.J.Yesudas .May his soul rest in peace. Edited January 11 by rtmohanlal coffee_rules 1

Sounding so similar he was not poor man's Yesudas ... He was a legend in its own self . I would have heard at least 2000 songs of his till date , that too several of these lots of times. So I should know his calibre .To sing quite a number of technically difficult songs in sweet bass masculine voice, apart from 1000s of songs in various categories & various languages ....let me tell you, here was a complete all round singer with out a shadow of doubt and there by an absolute legend ....
