Naah, 5 is good enough.

It keep the games competitive and more result oriented.

ODI's are anyway on its last legs. T20 is too much tilted towards batters, Tests still give something to the bowlers.

I don't think players are going to find it hard to sustain a 5 test series unless they are exclusive test specialists. Our fast bowlers invariably play atleast two formats.

It matters if you are at the fag end of the series ( last innings he bowled in the series) and made to bowl without much rest in one innings . You could make out what was his condition - Ab bas , mar jaunga  kind of !!

Spot on.

And his injuries are not due to a general lack of fitness. With his action, he is bound to be more injury-prone regardless of his general fitness. Just because Cummins is this and someone else was that, we cannot expect Bumrah to be the same. He is who he is - an absolute beast when managed properly. An ATG strike bowler, not a workhorse.

For the good of Indian cricket for the next 3-4 years, we must let him listen to his body and make decisions on whether he wants to play. He has earned this.

That's where we need bigger pool of bowlers. Both in pace and spin.

Its not easy to adjust lengths at will, more so in the longest format where fatigue may break in if you're not in best of shape.

If we start reducing the Tests, it will die. Already tests are in dire situation except for India, Aus, England....rest all nations just play 2 or 3 tests at max...followed by T20s.

I don't think India is having enough fast bowlers to compete in five test series in SENA.I don't think it ever had enough bowlers to compete in SENA plus WI when they had great teams in five test series.

Indian fast bowlers are not equipped to handle the work load.5 tests in 6 wks is way too much load on fast bowlers.

4 tests is maximum limit for current times.

Australia was lucky to have 4 great bowlers having a career during the same period. Bumrah started with shami, ishant, umesh. Now just shami is left. Even he had been gone for a while. Only for a brief period shami, ishant, bumrah played together. Their record was nothing short of stunning

Ishant, Shami, Bhuvi, Umesh and Pandya was a pretty good attack before Bumrah even made debut in 2018. I didn't include his name for a reason. Indian tms rarely know how to manage fast bowlers, Kohli and shastris tenure was a notable exception. Dhoni infact was the worst.

Ganguly had decent fast bowlers but we didn't have 4 of them and they didn't have anyone to look upto as role models.

Kohli was exceptional captain for fast bowlers. His captaincy added 5 plus years for Ishant, Shami and Umesh's careers. But they never had ability to compete in SENA for five tests.

2018 during Bumrah's test debut series was the first time in three test series in SA where Indian fast bowlers took 60 wickets in three tests. Those were played on very fast bowler friendly wickets and I don't know if they would have lasted 5 tests.

2018 in England they lost steam by the time 5th test came they were gasping and were out of gas.One test was washout in lords, they hardly had to

You need four or five very good fast bowlers to compete in five test series and hope to get 100 wickets.

Normally batsman would fold below 100 runs on 1st day of overseas tour and Bumrah has to bowl on 1st day itself.

The batsman should bat today and Bumrah with the help of Siraj, Prasiddh, Shardul, Jadeja may bowl.out England in low scores and may bat again for 1 dy.
