Yes. Toss was crucial. Once lost we had to look for a lead in the first innings.

We had massive opportunity as well to take a big lead. Then one guy decided he couldn't eat lunch without a 100.

I expected sound thrashing given the noobness of the team and also availability of Bumrah. India's loss was not because of lack of skill more to do with lack of brain cell. India outskilled England in both departments.  Yet we are in this situation. Never seen any series like this where India is down even though they dominated the 3 tests mostly.

Absolutely... And this has alot to do with the flat pitches, but I expected to get hammered. So I suppose that is positive

As with other periods in the test, there is a lack of clarity and purpose in this batting order for which I would hold Gambhir responsible. At many stages in the series so far, they seem to bat without a clear purpose or plan. Although I didn't watch the final day's play, from the highlights it seems the only wicket the bowler actually sent down a good ball for was Pant's. None of the others received any unplayable balls. However, there was clearly no plan on how to make 135 with 5 batsmen left. Jadeja was blocking and all the others were just looking to survive and hope luck would bail them out. The myth of "deep batting" was exposed again. Any other team would have cakewalked this chase especially once the ball was old.
