Duleep Trophy 2025

The Duleep Trophy 2025 is all set to take place in Bengaluru from August 28 to September 15, returning to its traditional inter-zonal format.

 

The tournament will follow a knockout structure and be hosted at the Centre of Excellence grounds.

 

Six zones-South, West, Central, East, North, and North-East-will compete for top honours.

 

South Zone and West Zone have been seeded directly into the semifinals. The quarterfinals, scheduled from August 28 to 31, will feature North Zone vs East Zone and Central Zone vs North-East Zone. The semifinals are set for September 4 to 7, followed by the final on September 11.

Tilak Varma will lead South Zone in the  Duleep Trophy.

Duleep Trophy should be made the premier domestic tournament. 

 

As the top players  are selected in.each zone ,mostly are top batsman,bowlers are selected from each state team .

 

The matches should be played such that all teams play each other ,top 4 are selected for semi-final  etc.

 

The matches should be played on all types of venues,pitches etc,Dharamshala,Wankhede,Eden garden,Chinnaswamy,Chidambaram etc.

 

The top players from Duleep Trophy should be selected as Rest of India team to play against Ranji champions in Irani Trophy

Embarrassing squad

 

The captain of the Ranji champions , Wadkar gets criminally ignored as usual. I get Juyal and Upendra are good talents but Wadkar has been the best domestic WK bt for years

Worse still, Sen is in the reserves and Deepak Chahar who can barely go by a few weeks without getting injured playing T20s let alone FC, is one of just two pacemen in the squad.

Absolutely agree with this. Each team plays each other twice home and away. Ranji is a feeder tournament. Fewer matches of high quality. Televise it and play in international stadia.
