Sure south India had policy and geographical advantages, but being so low in development which is at par with some of the poorest countries of Africa can't be attributed just to politicians, it's people who are equally to be blamed for that.

raki05 Posted August 30, 2025 Posted August 30, 2025 BTW many southern state got head start compared to other northern state because of continuous war time threat on bordering state with hostile countries. During 90s when our economy was open for global market. Bihar was ruled by maha chutiya Lalu Yadav where due to MY equation who are the largest population in bihar got youth involved in kidnapping, rangdaari and othee bad stuff. When smkrishna was bringing IT firms in karnatak , Bihar main rozgaar was kidnapping and rangdaari, many of my school friends whose parents were from business class marwari closed their business and ran aaay to surat. Muzaffarpur had biggest lahathi market most of them closed their business or ran away. Politician like lalu, rabri was completely responsible for bad state of bihar rather than creating good employment they made mafias and gundas from youths. coffee_rules 1

Western UP main kaafi contribution hai Akhilesh launched most of the project in last 2-3 years of his tenure. Post Muzaffarnagar riots and BJP's overwhelming support in UP, Akhilesh saw this as a last resort. But anyway, UP's problem wasn't the lack of development, it was the lack of law and order. It wasn't as bad as Bihar, but the absence of law and order always pushed the developments and investment in UP at the backseat. Mulayam isn't known for his scams, he is known for the state sponsored murder of RSS workers, Guest House kand, murder of Bramhdutt Dwivedi, Krishnanand Rai and providing state support to Mukhtar Ansari, Ateeq Ahmed, Imran Masood, Azam Khan, DP Yadav etc. Once Yogi corrected the law and order, the investment gained pace. raki05 1

Coz the time when states were developing themselves post liberalization, Bihar was shutting down it's industries due to Lalu Raj. Dalmiya Nagar is one which is on top of my head. Several small scale public sector units (textiles, sugar mills, agro based industries) either shut down or became non-functional due to poor governance, extortion, and lack of electricity and transport infrastructure. Many Marwari, Bengali, and business families relocated to other states like West Bengal and Delhi due to deteriorating law and order and lack of infrastructure investment. A massive amount of working population left Bihar never to return back. By the time Lalu raj ended, Bihar became a kid who was barely surviving by eating the scrap off the streets. Likes of Nitish, RamVilas paswan, Mulayam, Lalu all rose under his movement against Indira...and all of them were heavily inspired by left ideology which was against development and was inspired by keeping power in control. They had only one option of survival - remains from funeral. Villages were structured in a way that main residential area was at centre surrounded by vast agricultural fields and then outside that again river and residences of lowest castes. Huge social divide which continued even till early 2010s. Later kids of those groups started studying in primary schools. Caste remains a big social factor till date in 2025.

The thought was that South will stay away from the battlefield and will help in growing the India economically, it also helped that South has a large coastline. Huge social divide which continued even till early 2010s. Later kids of those groups started studying in primary schools. Caste remains a big social factor till date in 2025. I think that was the problem in many states, not exclusive of Bihar. The main reason for lack of education in Bihar itself was lack of schools. In between 8-10 villages (of around 1000 population each approx) there will be one school till xth while 2-3 schools till Vth. Then, the electricity, road and kidnapping issues, people were afraid to send their kids too far away coz there was always a fear of their abduction. When the society has lack of resources, no law will work. People will resort to force to gain maximum share, so whoever had the power gained upper hand. Communists, aligned with the lower caste groups and they did a lot of "unsociable activities" with UC's in Bihar right from the time of Karpuri Thakur. To combat them, Ranvir sena was formed which massacred villages of Dalits multiple times. Several gangsters like "Shahabuddin", "Munna Shukla", "Surajbhan Singh", "Pappu Yadav", "Dadan Yadav" etc rose to the power and use their "baahubali" image to gain maximum share. It's natural that animosity will happen then between castes. You guys might have heard the case of "Shilpi Jain - gautam Singh" rape and murder case or even the gang rape case of Mrs. BB Biswas. I can tell you that it isn't even 1% of what happened in Bihar. Now it's 1000 times better than what it used to be then. Edited August 30, 2025 by singhvivek141 raki05 1
