Lone Wolf Posted August 29, 2025 Posted August 29, 2025 Pretty good total in Sharjah conditions... Surprised.. Agha Salman batted pretty well.

He is poorer version of Rahane in T20. By their "gold standard" he is a great player. But he would not walk into 2nd XI of top international side. On those slow UAE wickets where pace is not going to trouble batsman he can score runs. Again that was something even Gobar, actor Rizwan could do.
tapandrun Posted August 30, 2025 Posted August 30, 2025 (edited) Pak is batting deep and have multiple allrounders or player who can roll their arm if needed, dropping big but slow scoring players they have gone back to same tactic or strategy how t20i were played before the introduction of dedicated accumulator/kind-of role- Bat till 8 even if every batter gets 12-15 balls to face try maximizing those. Batter comes plays their shots without thinking of accumulating or to stay longer as there is still some batting left after them. This is a good strategy on paper gives you a competitive total and allows the team keep the scoring rate up. Aus had David hussey, Ind had raina, SA had couple of such player who were seen as specialist. They would bowl couple of over and try to maximize what ever balls they play. 2007 wc-As Ind didnt had a good t20i side or lacked the experience of the format they did the same thing multiple allrounders and batting deep. This is theoretically verygood templates for the teams which does not have proper t20 batting side, it can give them (in current t20i cricket) a score of 170-175 on cosistent basis. till no.8 every1 plays 15 balls tries to maximize them say get 25 run in 15 balls. There are 2 issues with this approach 1 it looks good in theory how often a team can repeat this, second these kind of low potential batting talent fails during the run-chase as they do not know if their 15 ball 25 is good or not can they score more and if as a batter are they capable of playing more balls and still score a good rate against good bowlers Edited August 30, 2025 by tapandrun New guy 1

Yet they have lost as much as they won. They are tully baz cricketers. No body has technique. They just swing fromt he hip. Probably suitable for slow wickets with no pace as it allows these sloggers to get away.

Lone Wolf Posted August 30, 2025 Posted August 30, 2025 Hesson might be looking to bring the best out of Limited talent and resources . Always thought match winner Nawaz was unfairly dropped. Useful utility cricketer. Hesson has brought him back. Farhan seems upgrade on Rizzu Symonds. Focus on spin attack is what actually has changed. Chinaman Moqim is pretty good and Ayub might be a poor T20 batter but his part time left arm spin /leg spin is decent addition.

Hesson came through a path for a coach, its not like he was Intnl cricketer with name and started coaching. He coached domestic teams in Nz and argentina team and kenya and then NZ team. He has shown he can make good team out of bits and pieces kind of players and make then a good side when working together. Player may not be a big thing on their own but a strong group as a team.

They may not work in difficult conditions of Aus, NZ and dodgy pitches of sl or Bd. But they work in easy bounce and easy pace conditions , which they get in ICC events and other places. Eng and SA are also providing good batting pitches fr white-ball cricket. In many ways Eng's white-ball team was tulla for their batting standards-- Roy, Hales, Buttler all were considered tullas T20s essentially is about taking risk and ability to hit 4/6 and if a team can do it all the way to no.8 its good. Ang again for them its lack of top end batters so strategy over ability , mean you can see the thinking behind all this. Edited August 30, 2025 by tapandrun

They are just trying to bridge the gap between them and modern t20 sides, these kind if sides are mostly or say more successfully run if engine room is run by an analyst or its analytics driven Edited September 3, 2025 by tapandrun
nitinbwj Posted August 30, 2025 Posted August 30, 2025 Lol..UAE has 1 good hitter in Waseem and the idiot ran him out. What a **** team this UAE

Brian Bennett and Ben Curran are good too from Zimbabwe. Bennett is young talent while Curran is County veteran almost. Netherlands have Max o Dowd and Vikramjeet paaji... Plus that Aussie Jack Edwards who plays shield cricket there.
Lone Wolf Posted August 30, 2025 Posted August 30, 2025 (edited) Astonishing hitting from Asif khan... Trundler Mirza and mystery spinner Sufiyaan Moqim smashed. UAE could have ran them more close if someone had given some support to Asif. Edited August 30, 2025 by Lone Wolf
