@Ultimate_Game we finally won a toss but then washout and Rawal's injury. Kya kismat hai yaar India ka !!!!!

Pandya also injured himself against BD in 23 WC group game, Aus benefited at the end.

Even Richa Ghosh is doubtful for the SF.

How many forces are we supposed to fight to win something :wall:?

This is what happens when you play in substandard venues. Not Rawal's fault, her foot simply got stuck in the turf in the outfield, straightforward fielding attempt and now we have lost one of our most important players.

They probably consider women second class, Indian samaj is also to blame. We may be slightly better than our neighbors but long way behind Aus, Eng, NZ.

More than just the runs, opening partnership was our strongest point. Both complemented each other well, running between wickets was smooth.

Short RHB, lanky southpaw, opposite of Crawley-Duckett.

How is dy Patil substandard? It's probably better or at least on par with Wankhede despite not getting as much action.

Off season rains and freak injuries can happen anywhere.

Yes that opening partnership was one of our hope

Would have hosted some men's games if it were that good. Even in football we have many big stadiums but only a couple are FIFA certified.

It was extremely slippery since they just covered the square.  Not the whole ground. With large puddles they should have never taken the field..Mandhana asked all her fielders to take it easy on the boundary dary given the unsafe nature. India has lost the second highest run getter by any batter in this world cup.

A lot of Indian grounds don't get a chance to host games. Only venue that matters in Mumbai is Wankhede despite 2 other international quality grounds being nearby. It's not a reflection on those grounds being subpar. Spectators facilities wise dy Patil is better imo from personal experience.

Wankhede has never hosted an ipl final, going by your logic that should somehow also make it a substandard venue.

Mumbai doesn't host any games during monsoons and doesn't get random rains like Bangalore does. Draining the ground of every single drop can be a challenge when you had a downpour like yday. It can happen anywhere.

There are 70-80 grounds in India that have hosted men's international games, if DYP doesn't feature among them, it is not a good reflection.

Mumbai is huge, and the cricket capital of India, probably the world. Can easily accomodate 3 venues.

It seems Wankhede did host the 2018 IPL final (had to search for this info). Maybe in earlier editions choosing DYP was influenced by MI owners.

Wankhede/Brabourne both have hosted ICC finals. If this 3rd venue isn't trusted to host a bilateral white ball match, what does that say?

Spectator facilities being world class has nothing to do with turf/wicket quality, state of practice pitches etc. It is a privately owned stadium which also hosts music concerts, so don't doubt that.

One of the complaints about Indian hockey 20 years ago was that all the funds would be diverted to buying luxurious sofa sets in VIP room, coffee machines, paintings, bathroom tiles, beautification of offices/rooms of the officials. When focus should have been astro quality/maintenance, training equipment, gyms etc. Similar thing happened with AICF where they pumped most of the funds to build a new building in New Delhi when they already had well functioning administrative centres in multiple cities, all the while some of our players were stuck with their 1st or 2nd GM norm, not having means to travel to Europe to secure remaining norms. Bharat Singh Chauhan is in big trouble over this.

So more than spectator or other facilities, one should care about what facilities the players have to perform at their best.

BCCI likely to draft in Shafali Verma as replacement after Pratika Rawal injury for IND vs AUS semi-final

She is a headcase. 9 out of 10 times she gets out cheaply or throws her wicket away after looking good. Better in T20Is than ODIs, but let us see if she surprises us in a good way.

Rawal had the game to rotate strike post PP and was actually talented.

Shaifali is a glorified slogger with only strokes in the V region.

Best case scenario she damages the Aussies in PP.  Quick 40-50 odd.

It has hosted quite a few men's games though, hosted games in the 2011 world cup. There is no reason for BCCI to host any match at Brabourne or DY Patil in Mumbai unless it's a situation like the 2022 IPL or an international tournament where extra venues nearby are an advantage if MCA home ground is designated as Wankhede. It being a private owned uni stadium is just another one.

Also there is no evidence that any of the player facilities are 'subpar', nothing to indicate this same issue wouldn't have happened at Wankhede if it had hosted this match which also wouldn't have necessarily meant that it was a 'subpar' venue. Both pitch and outfield were carefully created here.
