There is no reason for BCCI to host any match at Brabourne or DY Patil in Mumbai unless it's a situation like the 2022 IPL or an international tournament where extra venues nearby are an advantage if MCA home ground is designated as Wankhede. Also there is no evidence that any of the player facilities are 'subpar', nothing to indicate this same issue wouldn't have happened at Wankhede if it had hosted this match which also wouldn't have necessarily meant that it was a 'subpar' venue. Both pitch and outfield were carefully created here.

Also seems to be more famous for concerts. I know that multi-purpose stadiums are the norm in Australia but rare in India. Maybe being a private stadium , priorties are different.

Yes you're right I'm misremembering the 2011 IPL games and WC games.

DY Patil has hosted 30+ IPL games, multiple Women's games including series vs Aus and WI and our only Women's Test vs England, host d WPL games, sells out most such women's matches. How exactly is it substandard? The outfield is a proper green carpet, is a sand based outfield, leads to super fast drainage.

 

Pratika's freak injury is unfortunate, that's a risk in any rain affected games at most top class stadiums particularly a match like yesterday when umpires allowed play despite mild drizzle many times. Does not make DY Patil a sub-standard ground in anyway.

But game should not have been played with water puddles. Problem is poor inspection by umpires.  It could have potentially happened to more than a few players as many such areas were there.

That really should have been avoided. The umps wanted to get as many overs as possible to ensure nz had a reasonable total.

But the case still persists. Umps with their urgency in wanting to have a match are playing with players health
