Listening to DK's intereview he mentioned about this TRDW.  Talent Resource Development Wing.   It was started under Dalmiya.  TRDW was apparently formed to scout talents beyond cities.  Basically small towns.  Vengsarkar was the chairman.  Players recognized by TRDW are  Suresh Raina, Irfan Pathan, Sreesanth, RP singh, Piyush Chawla, DK... Biggest one is MS Dhoni.  Prakash Poddar was one of the TRDO (Talend Resource Developement officer) . He first saw MSD in a Ranchi match and wrote

"Good striker of the ball; has a lot of power but needs to work on his wicket-keeping. Technically not very good. Is very good at running between wickets." He recommended Dhoni to the National Cricket Academy,

After Dalmiya left power structure changed. They discontinued it. John Buchanan briefly used this program for KKR.

IPL scouts are better for T20 unfortunately BCCI forgot we play tests too. Marketability too BCCI is going to shove t20 players in tests.

Bcci still has program, they kind of book mark 60 upcoming player , its just that IPL franchises are able to push the players in Ind side and selectors looking ahead for various personal reasons they spread out those IPL players in to various formats.

Its okay that IPL player comes into the t20i side nothing wrong that, but those players coming in to Odis and then tests is not right. The other issue is say if some 1 is good ranji player or vht player he will never be selected for IPL and hence his name will never be pushed so as a younger player what would they think???--- Concentrate on T20s get IPL contract 1-2 good IPL season and you are in the Ind team if not team be the fringe player.

But how would a ranji or vht player come in ?????  We all know Krathik sharma , Veer, etc... because they are t20 player but how many knows ranji player or vht players...

As for the above mentioned program it was need of that time .... After the big fixing episode hit , bcci did nt have much answers and the players in the system were not good enough to play at intnl level and those who were playing and that time only big centres were preferred so they just had to expand the cup-board.

So they did 2 things started to getting players right after U19, so if they had any potential they got chance and investing 2-3 years in those U19 player was better than player who were 26-28 who have not made to Ind side if they were unable to do till now they wont be able to do in future kind of thinking and at that time no ranji player was out of box ready for Intnl cricket , and if you invest 2-3 years on a 26-28 yo player by the time they get used to of intnl cricket they would be 30...

The other thing bcci thought with U19 players was that they have not been corrupted so they can keep crkt clean and then expand cricket to other centres. up,raj,mp,jkd etc players were looked as potential players which previous was not the case. Its still not the case in Test cricket still the test batters comes from 4-5 big centres.

As some suggested IPL scouts are better in Picking up talent and they are just doing it for T20 purpose, either  selectors take on themselves to pick better talent or  sit and wait for IPL season performers.

No one is talking about the other Smat performers ::: Amit kumar , Dalal, Virath singh, chaendela .....no one is talking about them as if they are told not to talk. If some know player score it becomes headline and if some1 ipl team are targeting it becomes headline what for those who are performing but nt being selected.
