singhvivek141 Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Nagpur to Host Dassault’s Second-Largest Rafale Plant with 24-Jet Annual Production, Supporting India’s 114-Jet Order https://defence.in/threads/nagpur-to-host-dassaults-second-largest-rafale-plant-with-24-jet-annual-production-supporting-indias-114-jet-order.16664/ Nagpur's MIHAN SEZ already has decent amount of infrastructure available courtesy of Dassult-Ambani partnership and manufacturing capability of parts. Hence airframes can be manufactured there. Safran MRO in Hyderabad will manufacture M88 engines..which will power those Airframes. G_B_ and IndianRenegade 1 1
Lone Wolf Posted January 21 Posted January 21 (edited) The star of the these parades so far. DRDO chief said in 2 years this will be inducted. ET- LDHCM hypersonic Cruise Missile seems a while away. Maybe close to 2030 if we are lucky Next decade our SSN's with VLS capability will fire this LR Ashm beasts. Reckon they will develop some other class of Hypersonic glide missile or maybe hypersonic cruise missiles for our futuristic P18 class destroyers in next decade. singhvivek141 Posted January 21 Posted January 21 There are strong news that India is planning to buy some 60 Su57 as well...approx 3 squadrons.
Lone Wolf Posted January 21 Posted January 21 (edited) Offensive capability of Navy will be boosted by a lot... This would be a heavy hitter. Longer range bigger payload and hypersonic glide Missile (10x more damage than a Brahmos). This is LR ashm first stage booster. A land based bunker buster variant specially for Munira is what I really want. Edited January 21 by Lone Wolf G_B_ 1
Lone Wolf Posted January 21 Posted January 21 (edited) This is a bad news... Already reports of dwindling Gorkha rifles numbers as recruitment from Nepal has stopped. Things must be dire for armed forces to start appealing for youths to join. Sikh Dogra Gorkha Rajput regiment is backbone of armed forces. Anti GC policies will only make things worse in the long run. Edited January 21 by Lone Wolf
IndianRenegade Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Don't know the details, but WOW! Might just be reframing of Rafale & Submarine deals. BRUSSELS, Jan 21 (Reuters) - The European Union has agreed with India to proceed with the signature of a new security and defence partnership between the two parties, EU Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas said on Wednesday. https://www.reuters.com/world/india/eu-proceed-security-defence-partnership-with-india-kallas-says-2026-01-21/

Tejas mk1a, its turning out to be a big party spoiler. HAL need to start handing over the jets to IAF as the engines arrive. Weapon integration is something which is in their control, specially the Astra and AVRAAM missiles.

Nah PRC still maintains a huge standing army.. technologically adept doesn't means that we gotta slow down there. In fact Pooks have massive manpower themselves...that's two of our bigger foes.. 1.2 million (including Paramilitary) for Pooks. ISI's long term game plan in Punjab/NW was always to create such kind of demographic dividend. Edited January 22 by Lone Wolf

China is heavily reducing size of army https://m.economictimes.com/news/defence/china-cuts-down-troops-in-army-by-more-than-50/articleshow/67640085.cms They have a goal of 600k elite army. Punjab has a median age of 35. Probably demography driving this. Personally view this as a good sign. India needs a 750k army.

An objective, long-running source of statistics on the People’s Liberation Army (and all the world’s militaries) is the International Institute for Strategic Studies Military Balance. It filled in the gaps in Chinese numbers with the following educated guesses (as of 2024): total active-duty personnel, 2,035,000; Army, 965,000; Navy, 252,000; Air Force, 403,000; Rocket Force, 120,000; Strategic Support Force, 145,000; Joint Logistic Support Force, 150,000; paramilitary People’s Armed Police, 500,000; and People’s Liberation Army reserves, estimated 510,000. Because of the institute’s longtime attention to the subject, and lacking specifics from Beijing, many foreign observers use these estimates when addressing the size of the Chinese military. Fun fact number one: The estimated number of personnel in the world’s “largest navy” (by overall battle force, including its Marine Corps) is about 52 percent of the active-duty U.S. Navy and Marine Corps total. https://warontherocks.com/2024/07/back-to-the-basics-how-many-people-are-in-the-peoples-liberation-army/#:~:text=An objective%2C long-running source,Liberation Army reserves%2C estimated 510%2C000.
G_B_ Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Thats one article. How exactly was it debunked? From europe to usa most armies in shrinking. India simply cannot afford 70% of its defence budget going on salaries. Its as simple as that.

Its currently around 1.9% of GDP...have to increase it to 2.2% and slowly to 2.5-2.8%. Need to keep it minimum at this level till 2047. As we wound need significant investment on AMCA, TEDBF and Submarine projects. Edited January 23 by singhvivek141
