No matter how good or poor their manufacturing is, the way they are able to churn out ships at rapid scale is impressive. Number by Number we can't match the Chinese industrial scale. Pooks are following the principles of sea denial, not allowing Indian ships near the coasts. That's where we need our ASW's and P8Is to do the heavy duty and detect these submarines. Arnala and Nilgiri class comes with ASW warfare. AIP induction in Kalvari class and P75I has to begin without any delay. Not sure if we can do anything for Sindhughosh or Shishumar class. That's the plan partial sea denial in Arabian Ocean.. they don't plan to venture deep into Indian waters as they simply don't have enough vessels to think about it but any attempt of blockade by Indian Navy won't be that easy as it is now. Sindhughosh and Shishumar are simply inefficient and they probably don't even have much diving hours left despite the upgrades. They have been a workhorse for us no doubt. We have to seriously start looking at unmanned XLUUVs as well. Underwater UAVs too. Both are achievable for us at least for ISR and logistics ops. Jalkapi is a step in right direction. PLAN in their hainan facilities is perhaps working on them at industrial scale that USAN hasn't even thought about. Idk how many would be even operational by now. For years we have wrongly looked at China threat which was always in Indian Ocean. PLAN rapidly expanding SSN fleet will pose a direct challenge to us in Indian Ocean as soon as the 2030's. Their CBG's have already been seen very often in IOR these days. Edited May 2 by Lone Wolf

singhvivek141 Posted May 5 Posted May 5 I dont think Navy will see P17B or P28A this year. Seems all the money is exhausted chasing P8Is and MQ9 Reaper...while P75I will get signed this year. Dont thibk additional 3 scorpenes order will go through as well. DRDO will push for its own AIP under trials with INS Khanderi. G_B_ 1

Follow on order should be placed for those ones in future as I believe we will get decent ToT provided MDL doesn't screws up again. Navy has serious budget constraints probably and slow down is guaranteed post 2027 when all decades old previous orders will be completed.

I understand as they do the R&D on almost everything abd build it from the scratch, but not giving access to indigenious tech is a massive compromise. Though reports say that for 3 additional scorpenes, France is ready to ToT more. But dont think its gonna work. G_B_ 1

MTA, Refuelers, engine, squadron strength, 5gen all are pending. Army equipments are cheap but the sheer size and the pensions are plugging a big hole. Then the emphasis on drone tech. Navy also have to share funds with CoastGuard, and they too are procuring fast petrol vessels and Dornier planes for surveillance. Strong CoastGuard is necessary for any illegal activities. For Navy I guess everything is taking a backseat as A2/AD denial in IOR for PLAN is more critical as PLAN is literally pushing 60+ hulls per year now. P75I is as crucial as the Rafales and Tejas for us to maintain some detterance at least. So Admirals are making the best out of whatever they get. IAF with its mere 29 squadrons would naturally eat away most of the budget from here on as it is in dire straits, AWACS are far more important than importing those token 5th gen fighters

The DRDO chief said the same in some conclave a few days ago. As of yet Pralay has not been inducted officially the small 100 unit order has been placed though. Pak Navy is getting all the goodies at a dirt cost, coz PLAN wants to ensure Indian Navy's focus remain at the Arabian Sea, with limited firepower at Malacca Choke Point, which is the weakest neck for PLAN. With AoN base, PLAN is aware that it gives Indian Navy immense firepower to push back Chinese ships. Some P8Is will also be stationed there so even from submarine POV, PLAN cant escape that easily.

Malacca isn't specifically a choke point for PLAN as Sunda Strait and Lombok straits exist in case of Wartime. Their massive SSN fleet which is rapidly expanding accompained by CBG will be a nightmare to deal with. A&N islands should be full of Coastal LrAshm batteries in significant numbers and probably with top tier military grade GPS to engage with moving targets. That would deter PLAN surface level fleet least and offset their numerical advantage theoretically.
