Abhishek will come good, he is a match winner.
Going through hard times, but who doesn't. Still he doesn't waste balls and perishes while trying to attack.
Philips and McConchie are the challengers, but he has the game to overcome this battle.

He hasn't given any indication he can turn it around. He's failing against left arm spinners as well now (Akeal Hosein) when earlier he used to be at least a left arm spinner killer. He has no idea what to do and looks like a deer in front of headlights.

Better to go with in-form players and higher percentage instead of doubling down and failing to adjust.

How the heck he could not clear wankhede pocket size boundary lol Comfortably caught inside while  Sanju  parking Archer's deliveries  in 3rd tier lol

Forget clearing boundary, he's getting caught by fielders running in from the boundary. The ball is not even getting past 40m! And against Pak (Agha) he couldn't even clear mid on. No timing, power and intelligence or batting IQ at this point. Just lofts the ball in the air to the fielders.

Lacking power since illness. Chhotu Curran also got caught on boundary lol

Yes precisely. I could see that issue in every single match. A guy who depends on that beautiful swing can massively be impacted by lack of proper down swing. Does he hit massive sixes in the nets? That is my question. I doubt he does. SOmeone like Jaiswal would have definitely made a 40 ball 100 at his home venue

What a fall from grace! Instead of instilling fear in the opposition he's being compared to Curran :((

And if he can't hit in the nets or in practice, he shouldn't be played. That's why you have a squad of 15 so others can replace someone who's misfiring. IMO after the WT20 is over Jaiswal needs to be given an extended run. He has been unfairly kept out but deserves his chance.

Yes should have been released after illness and replaced by Jaiswal or even Suryavanshi

Same with Gill when he caught Dengue just before the 2023 WC. He was a non-factor during the WC just like Abhishek is this tourney. Don't know what is it with Punjab openers falling sick just before a WC and then sucking throughout and being a total non-factor while dragging the team down :((

As reported he lost a lot of weight post that sickness... I think they should have brought in a replacement rather than playing a guy who should have been in recovering phase.

Had a Couple of failures and his confidence might have been shattered when the KO's came.

Still hoping he can pull a Travis Head Outta nowhere in the final.  There is only one way to tame Kiwis is all out attack from the get go.

Watch out for the off spinner and go after their Pacers as all Coach should tell him.

I am 100% sure he will fail. He has no power in his shots. No rythm. Just lacks fluency. Bat comes at an angle. They are playing him for the sake of team morale . I think they also know he will fail as he has lost all his positive attributes.

This pitch will suit him. Plus we don't have too many options. Siraj is a non-starter and is not a T20 bowler. Don't want to go with Kuldeep as NZ knows how to tackle him with sweeps.

I would've been fine with someone like Bishnoi if he had been in the squad but he isn't. Varun C is the best option we have unfortunately. But that's not the case with Abhishek as we have Rinku in the squad and we have two quality openers in Samson and Ishan. We've an option for Abhishek in the squad but not for Varun C. Kuldeep can be selected but I see him getting hit much more easily than Varun.

Sanju faced technical issues as well before the WC and it looked a lot worse than Abhishek.

I don't think issue is technique, perhaps power and his hand eye coordination is failing him.

Rinku just lost his father. Do you think he is mentally there?

Much better than Abhishek. He might play an innings to remember to honor his father. Abhishek is a walking wicket and with the number of spinners in NZ lineup, he's not gonna do much.

Power is leading to other issues. He is trying something else.

Ahead of India's T20 World Cup 2026 semi-final clash against England, Indian bowling coach Morne Morkel backed struggling Abhishek Sharma for coming good in the semi-final, saying that the important thing for the left-hander is to revisit his "feel good moments" and "start from zero".

Not sure that will help him lol It may drive him to depression. This guy was thrashing Rashid khan, Adil Rashid all over. now getting out to Salman Ali agha, Aryan Dutt, Will jacks.

31 of 13 so far...striking it well on the final.
