KV244 Posted March 10 Posted March 10 According to me Virat Kohli was better than Joe root in test cricket because he has scored runs on tough Sa pitches in both 2017 and 2023 tour and Joe root scored on easy flat pitches of England.

And at home our domination was built on Ashwin and Jadeja with supporting roles by our spin-all-rounders such as Sundar and Axar. The moment Ashwin and Jadeja regressed over the last couple of years, we started losing at home. Kohli wasn't a factor at home either. So again my question - what's the point of playing on "difficult" pitches when they didn't translate to even a single Indian win or being the difference in Tests. I can name multiple innings from Pant, Pujara and even likes of Mayank Aggarwal and Shardul Thakur but not one from Kohli. Whereas Root has managed to win multiple games, including in India where he was the main scorer. The only black mark against Root was not able to score 100s in Aus and he covered it in the recent Ashes series.
Prabhdeep Singh Posted March 14 Posted March 14 Never rated Joe Root, just a boring batsman who scores at a decent rate but looks nothing special in terms of stroke play. Very good in terms results but not someone I would watch and go wow.
