Siraj should not even be in contention.  Man averages 42 against Top 10 sides after the 2023 Asia Cup.

For comparison, Rana averages 27 and Prasidh averages 28 odd.

Siraj had two meaningless 6fers against Srilanka. It came back to bite us on the big day in Ahmedabad

No

On the big day he was used as a 5th bowler after the spinners.

May still have failed but there was no reason to change bowling order.

He got Head out in the series before the WC too

shows the confidence of captain. Like i said he didn't do much other than those two 6 wicket hauls

Boom, Gurnoor, Harshit

Reserves : Prasidh, Sakib, Nabi/Arshad (no.8)

Post Asia Cup, this is the record.

It's pretty clear that Bumrah, Prasidh, Harshit, Arshdeep are our Top 4 options for now.  With Gurnoor in the mix .

Experience is important in ODI World Cups.  Can't just throw in guys like Sakib and Arshad in.

Selectors will go with

Boom Gurnoor Harshit Prasidh and Arshdeep.. Siraj will also be competing for 5th seamer slot..

Sakib , Nabi and Arshad are inexperienced..

Bowling Shami agead of Siraj was a gamble that didnt work well for Rohit..

Siraj and Boom were a good pair in that wcup..

followed bu Shami.. Shami coming at first change was giving enough penetration in the middle..

ofc we are all saying afte thibgs have happened but that pattern was working for us and we broke it..

India can even try in SENA

8. Harshit

9. Gurnoor

10. Prasidh

11. Bumrah

That is not bad but we need another batsman to replace Washington Parag and Rinku  Someone who is better at number 6 and can bowl a few overs too would be ideal

6. Hardik / Nitish

7. Parag

8. Harshit .. decent batter and big hitter

9. Gurnoor .. can hit.

10. Prasidh  ●  / Kuldeep / Arshdeep

11. Bumrah

●  Replace Prasidh with Kuldeep if any help for spinners.

●  Replace Prasidh with Arshdeep if any swing on offer.

On pace friendly tracks, we can use 5 proper hit the deck pacers for all the 50 overs. No dibbly dobbly stuff.

Opposition will be under tremendous pressure.

This is perfect but we know that our selectors and management never select a perfect playing eleven since they always make a blunder at the last minute

If required we can even play Hardik and Nitish(in place of Parag) together…and can just play with one spinner in Kuldeep..

so Hardik and NKR can bowl 5 overs each with relatively higher/consistent pace and dont need to think about full 10 overs..

less chances of body breaking down which is always a question mark on them

6 HaPa/NKR

7 HaPa/NKR/Parag

8 Harshit

9 Gurnoor

10 Kuldeep/Prasidh/Arshdeep

11 Boom

Was watching yesterday's match closely.

Whenever pacers hit the deck hard at 140 k+ and hit good areas, it was vicious. And, as Gill said, conditions will be similar in South Africa  2027.

Axar got MotM but the match was won by the fire of  Bumrah - Gurnoor - Prasidh trio. Need one more such pacer in the 11.

I think, on most pitches in SA, a spinner, for the sake of it, won't be needed.

It would have been different if we had the Kuldeep of late 2010s in ODIs.

Though I feel TM is trusting more in Prasidh than Gurnoor.. so Gurnoor has to make most of whatever ODI matches he plays going fwd

Gurnoor is new. But he is getting chances in ODIs regularly and that is not bad.

Ideally need express pace of one of Ashok or Mayank.. if they show good fitnesd and accuracy..however team balance wise.. Harshit will enter..

or

Harshit

Gurnoor

Boom

and one of Ashok/Mayank

tbh Kartik Tyagi could hv been handy too if he is gets accurate..

can move the bowl, hit the deck, bowl at death..

Anyways future prospects..
