Agree.

Pradosh Paul and Andre Siddharth are the 2 guys to focus on ..... but the Zonal Selectors are being vision-less as usual.

Selectors may not be even aware of their names.

They are too busy running their own coaching academies and promoting their own students.

Pradosh did much better than Jagadeesan in this year's Ranji season. Jagadeesan made mere 106 runs at an average of 13.25  Pradosh made 564 runs at 56.40.  Baba Indrajith consistently delivers. But his time has gone. Has 6000 runs at 52.63 average  .He is 32. Sai kishor had an okay season. Below par compared to his 53 wicket season.  So no surprise.

Biggest untapped potential is 19y year old Andre siddarth. Averaging 53.19 in 16 first class games.

Andre Siddharth was highly rated in U19 wcup..though he couldnt deliver per expectations..Good to see..he made good runs in domestics now

What is this weird scheduling? No group matches for some teams and why play semifinals... ? Just play each other and topper gets the trophy

Agreed. They should merge North East Zone into East Zone and make it a 5-team tournament with a group stage followed by final. They can even add a 6th team of emerging players who couldn't get into these 5 teams.

This should be made the premier first-class competition since Ranji Trophy quality is too diluted with 38 teams.

Zonal selections can not be perfect, some teams in a zone can be batting heavy with near to 0 bowling and some teams can be bowling heavy , so hard to get best players selected.

The concept is v.good but its hard to put it to practice.

Saurashtra's No 3 batter Jay Gohil, who was in the standbyes, on Monday replaced Sarfaraz Khan in the West Zone squad for the Duleep Trophy. Gohil scored 523 runs in six matches at an average of 58.11, including one hundred & fours fifties for Saurashtra in the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season.

The 63rd edition of the Duleep Trophy is set to get underway on Sunday, August 23, flagging off the Indian domestic season for 2026-27. Aside from it being one of the country’s most prestigious domestic competitions, this edition of the tournament holds significance in light of Indian cricket’s bench strength in Tests. Following an increased frequency of injuries and few players knocking hard on the door of selection, strong performances against the crème de la crème of India’s first-class cricketers could catapult players into the radar ahead of a tour of New Zealand and a home series against Australia.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored just eight runs on his Duleep Trophy debut for East Zone before Sudip Gharami and Shahbaz Ahmed hit hundreds to power them to 355 for 6 against North East.

Pacer Tushar Deshpande and off-spinner Tanish Kotian headlined a fine bowling performance with four wickets apiece as West Zone bowled out North Zone for a lowly 251

Deshpande (4/57) and Tanush Kotian (4/72) shared the spoils equally as North, who were placed comfortably at 117 for 2 at one stage, were left gasping for breath at 220 for 9 before Anshul Kamboj's audacious 60 off 52 balls with five fours and equal number of maximums took them past 250-run mark.

Abid Mushtaq produced a fine spell as North Zone bowled West Zone out for 187 on the second day of their Duleep Trophy quarter-final in Bengaluru.

The left-arm spinner took five wickets and played a major role in giving North Zone a 64-run first-innings lead.

Not a single pacer operating above 140 k.

What is the point of choosing medium pacers only  ????

90% of the time they don't work in test matches.

100% trundlers quota
