putrevus Posted August 26 Posted August 26 (edited) What some fans and media don't understand is how recently Australia and also England keep getting away from the pitches. Australian pitches in last few seasons have favored bowlers a lot.Even against England and India many matches finished in three days. That is being done by design as bowling is stronger for Australia. They were outbatted on a normal pitch in first test by Bangladesh of all teams. None of the Aussie batsmen have quality other than Smith who is on decline, so they are opting bowlers to win matches for them with one or two batsmen scoring enough runs. Traditionally all Aussie pitches used to be different.Gabba was green with some bounce , Sydney favored spinners, Perth was fast and bouncy. Sydney in 2025 against India all wickets except one were taken by fast bowlers and no innings reached 200.Adelaide used to be batting paradise, now with pink ball it is different ball game. Compare the scores against India on same Syndey in 2014, 2018 and 2021 against India. England under Bazball made pitches flat to suit their batsman who had very weak techniques. But when Anderson and Broad were in their full flow they prepared many green tracks. NZ is the biggest culprit, they act all nice but they prepare most horrible pitches. SA compare pitches when Smith was captain, Kallis was scoring all those runs. When was last time 400 was reached in India vs SA. Edited August 26 by putrevus Texan 1

This pitch has traditionally been flat/spinning for almost a century. Many of the Aussie greats were surprised seeing such green pitch in Sydney. Clearly they were scared of Indians playing in familiar conditions.
BacktoCricaddict Posted August 29 Posted August 29 They visually trick everyone with the beautifully manicured outfield. If it looks pretty it must be good, right? vvvslaxman 1
