Kapil was mostly like Pollock or Vaas, both were in 130-140 at the start, by the time they retired they became 120-130. I think Kapil was decently quick till his 1986-87 injury. After that he became slow...even his numbers nosedived after 1986-87 if I am not wrong. Kapil bowled 135-140 till 84 knee surgery. Unlike imran who became better after each injury kapil declined after that injury singhvivek141 1

It was only after John Snow trained him, he started bowling quicker. Imran at his fastest, wasn't a genuine quickie. He would be Fast medium, with the ability to bowl around 145-147ish at times. ( And I have seen old interviews of Australian batsmen who played him at his quickest, calling him ' fast enough', but never calling him a tearaway). My assumption is, Imran would have been similar to Ajit Agarkar in pace-138-142/143k's on an average. I don't know what is the difference in speeds when you measure the speed at batsmen's end, and when you do it at release point. But I do not think Imran was bowling 145-150 regularly, as mentioned above. Also, dont think WI pacers were bowling 155ish. Thats why posted the complete context of this video, alot of ppl does not know the context and claims what ever they like. and also giving the speeds per today's tech. show and helps to explain there is nothing these bowler were doing which matches to current knowledge of extrem pace or even 140+ kmph pace Rightarmfast 1

Obviously his home record is due to tampering and umpires but he still avgs 26 away which is much better then kapil

Even sunny g said imran was super fast during 82/83 series Naah! Bumrah was operating around 150's for a better part of his career. Bumrah would be a bonafide express bowler. I have given this context plenty many times. Giving it one more time- Shoaib Akhtar was bowling below 154/153 till 1999/2000. Yet, someone like Dravid and Tendulkar couldn't even see the ball the first time they encountered him. They didn't know what hit them. It was clear speed. And we certainly do know he wasn't a 154+ bowler in 1998. Which gives a logical conclusion that Shoaib was way quicker than any other bowlers Sachin and Dravid had faced. Which also means Waqar and Donald were not bowling 154+, and maybe bowling 150+ at times, but below 154 for most part. And Imran was way slower than any of these bowlers. Sunny paji can say a lot of things, but as far as I know, his eye did not have a calculator or speed gun. tapandrun 1

Shoaib was v.quick for the time not was near him. he as a like a shock to may batters , because by the time he came in most faster bowlers slowed down and were at later satges of their career. It was not just the speed , it was that odd action, hyperextension plus some extra factor to his action. At that point in time all the bowlers had simple rhythmic actions. Early part of his career he was high 140-151 kmph blower, then he increased his speeds and then he had a toe to toe competition with lee that kept both of them going and not slow down. Plus the speedometers were widely used it was great entertainment just to know who is bowling what pace and all of sudden there were multiple express or near express bowlers-- bond, edwards, ntini etc.. Wasim Akram, to his last match was termed as 'Left Arm Fast'. Allan Donald to his last match was termed ' Right Arm Fast'. Shaun Pollock for a majority of his career was termed 'Right Arm Fast'. Walsh and Curtly were always termed 'Right Arm Fast'! Yet, Srinath was clocked faster than each of these bowlers when they got a speed gun. Srinath was termed 'Right Arm Fast Medium'.

jf1gp_1 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I know it's a bowlers thread but most of us do not realize how blessed we were to have a Sunny, greatest batsman against any fast bowling lineup anywhere in the world. He probably has multiple 100s against all the bowlers in the list.
