diegovegaz
robin uthappa, who started his career as an attacking opening batsman, seems to have lost his way in the team in and out of the playing 11, constantly moved up n down the line-up, made to open, come one-down, or even at 7 twenty20 has had an ill-effect on his batting i have nioticed that he now focusses on playing with an angled bat, trying to nudge the ball behind the keeper, through the slips etc he is trying too many cute and cheeky shots what he should be doing is playing with a straight bat, and play his natural game he is a talented batsman, he must make his way back into the team Link to comment
flamy
His technique has got to be the dumbest. Hawkeye has multiples everytime he is at the crease. Link to comment
cowboysfan
hate to see a local boy throw away his career playing dumb shots and being an all round doofus on and off the field.he has talent but he needs to bring it together. Link to comment
Kartikey
He's gonna find it even harder now with Badrinath in the team and Shikhar Dhawan knocking on the door. Link to comment
SachDan
Yet another talent wasted? :nervous: Link to comment
putrevus
I dont think he was ever a talent, he has zero footwork and has no shots in his repertoire except very few thats why he never was successful in IPL , he was fully exposed in IPL and it is about time other people got a chance. bharat297
To be honest I think he is a bit confused as to his role in the team ... I agree there are many problems with his technique ... but I find the main issue with Uthappa is that the team doesnt know how to use him, and thus he doesnt know how he should bat. In the CB series finals, he was given a simple job ... Open, bat out the first 15-20 overs and just turn over strike along with Sachin. He did that job well. Then they have gone back to shuffling him around. In my opinion, his best position is at no.6 or no.7 where he can come in late in the game and go after the bowlers. Link to comment
Kumar
He had about a few good innings. He plays well against england usually, when he saved us that 6th odi in england. If he performs well in Ranji, he can easily get a chance in odis, wont get test chance soon though Link to comment
beetle
He seems to be going the Kambli way...too much hairstyle.....too much talk! Link to comment
Dravid
its that stupid shuffle across the stumps that he does... it gets him lbw most of the time.. Link to comment
diegovegaz
the best chance we can give him is to bat up the order like he did when he made his career best 86 what an innings it was, the first time i saw india having a run rate of 9 in the powerplay overs open, only when sehwag or gambhir are rested else come in at 3, like he did against the 20-20 match against australia in india played very well stop shuffling, always play attacking cricket, play with a straight bat, he'll come back stronger Link to comment
Dravid
what an innings it was, the first time i saw india having a run rate of 9 in the powerplay overs obi. u need to watch more cricket :D Link to comment
diegovegaz
obi. u need to watch more cricket :D carefully notice the words "first time" there were no sehwag gambhir then Link to comment
fineleg
Let RU first worry abt his place and work on his cricket. Let him own up responsibility for fighting his way back with sterling performances in domestics, india-A etc etc, and then we can discuss. Link to comment
Dravid
carefully notice the words "first time" there were no sehwag gambhir then u saying sachin-sehwag... sachin-ganguly NEVER went at 9 rr? Link to comment
diegovegaz
when did the others score at 9 for abt 18-19 overs consistently? Link to comment
King Tendulkar
I rate Uthappa. He will come back to be a potent odi player. Link to comment
Kumar
he should be starting games instead of vrat kholi imo. When he gets going he does exceptionally well. Never forget that he saved us as well as sachin in that 6th odi vs england. Link to comment
