This is the same reason they refuse contestants to take part in Miss universe competitions...coz apparently that's "unislamic" .....too much religion all the time

Remember, its a Pakistni culture thing and not a Muslim thing. There are more Muslims in India than Pakistan and they think quite differently. Even Afganistan has started participating in beauty contests....now that they are free to take their own decisions.

According to her, newspapers are maligning her and her family and people in her community are already ostracizing her for participating and singing on tv for a girl in Pakistan is considered immoral. Sara confirms the news and says, “Ammijaan was a nervous wreck and was not very keen to send me to Mumbai, particularly because of the kind of clothes the women need to wear in front of the camera.” An insider from Zee TV says, “It’s true that girls are made to wear sexy outfits on shows. The glamour quotient is important. Today’s girls have no problems, but there was an issue when we finished with the audition of Sara. She is a fine singer and we selected her, but she said that she will not indulge in body exposure.” Sara adds, “I am not going to wear any sleeveless outfits or short dresses. And I will never drop the dupatta while doing the show. I must add that the scene is different in Pakistan; there people don’t appreciate someone singing in reality shows. Though gradually they are coming around.” Sara, who is from Lakshya Gharana of Shankar Mahadevan, also did not want to say ‘Har Har Mahadev’, which is the slogan of her gharana. The project head of the show Santosh Shende says, “Yes, Sara didn’t want to say, ‘Har har Mahadev’. But I guess she didn’t know the meaning of the words. And yes, we did explain to her that it simply means ‘God is one’.” Lets substitute the underlined words in the above passage with name being "Varsha Patel" from Pakistan to Porbandar in Gujarat and Har Har Mahadev with "In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen." Does the interview still rankle everybody??

If Hindus are uncomfortable uttering 'Allah', a muslim Girl can't be forced to utter 'Har Har Mahadev'. But, Lurkerji, it is you who is being ridiculous. The girl from Pakistan is assuming that she will have to wear skimpy clothes and dance in front of camera. I don't think the show forced anyone to do it. It was only that contestants were willing to do it (case in point , Mouli) to stay in the competition and win it. So, we should tell the Paki err. Pakistani girl to shove the 'we come from better culture' charade and just sing and be done with it.

Texy Posted September 22, 2008 Author Posted September 22, 2008 she's a complete B***h ....and according to everyone else on the show her mom always gives her ideas....there is also this other pakistani guy in the show called Faraz Butt....that guy is super cool....during Ganesh festival....he said..I don't know anything about this festival but I'm really curious to know and he asked show's host Aditya Narayan to gift him an idol of Ganeshji so that he can take the idol back home. I have never heard such things from a pakistani contestant.

She did not want to say it b/c she fears reprisals back home. She had no qualms otherwise. 2. She did not want to say it b/c it "offends" her religious sensibilities. If Choice 1, then it is understandable. She is her to participate in a some third-rate show..we should not expect her to be a trend-setter. If Choice 2, then she should be tossed from the show and given a one-way ticket back home. Afterall, the show is in HINDUSTAN!!

Afterall, the show is in HINDUSTAN!! I think choice 2 should not be objectionable either. Who are we to expect everyone else to have perfectly rational mind and ideal judgment? She has her rights to have reservations against practices/chants/traditions of another religion. As long as she is not disrespecting our religion, we should have no problem. If one of our contestant goes to participate in a Pakistani show and they ask him/her to chant something Isklamic, I dont think our view would have been so liberal.

Whenever Aadesh talks to Faraz or other pakistani contestants...he always say "may Bhagwan/Allah bless u" Sara Raza Khan was even given a ticket by Tushar Kapoor to go to Ajmer Sharif...... would that have ever happened in a pakistani show to a hindu pakistani contestant or a contestant from India?

In my own personal experience I am yet to meet a Pakistani person who claims "We have a better culture". Sure many Pakistanis follow a certain way of life(read wearing full sleeves) and are not comfortable with wearing skimpy clothes. Fair enough. So whats wrong in saying that?? Whats the hurry to jump the gun and start making judgements on what she meant, and what have you? I am still to hear one sane argument(within this thread) where the girl has actually said anything on the lines of what many people are suggesting. This is a classic case of making a mountain out of molehill. xxx

I haven't seen an episode of the current season, but judging from past shows (four teams + each team has a slogan + himesh had a hindu slogan) she knew she had a 50% chance at getting drafted into a team with a Hindu slogan (Shankar or Himesh). Knowing this, why did she join in the first place? So again, it all comes back down to whether she is a) fearing reprisals from back home but otherwise has no problems saying it (in which case fine, dont say the slogan) OR b) she has a religious problem with it...in which case she should be given the boot.
