Sehwag is better than Lara !

Well, Lara never had the luxury of playing alongside a decent batting or bowling line up MOST of the times. There are countless matches wherein he scored 150+ runs but the team's total score would be around 300 or something. I need not go beyond the SL series in 2001/02 to prove my point. As a batsman he can only put runs on the board, he can't be held responsible if the bowlers didn't take twenty wickets. Btw I don't want to get involved in this players comparisons. I enjoy(ed) watching Lara, Sehwag and SRT all the same.

Lara played 78 out of his 131 tests with Walsh. Lara played 61 out of his 131 tests with Ambrose. Lara played 33 out of his 131 tests with Bishop. Lara played 26 out of his 131 tests with K Benjamin. Lara played 13 out of his 131 tests with W Benjamin. All sub 30 averaging tests bowlers. Any more myths out there? EDIT : He played 80 out of his 131 tests with either Walsh or Ambrose. Pretty feeble bowling attack. Poor Lara!

Walsh from '97 till retirement averaged 23 as opposed to his career average of 24. Ambrose from '97 til retirement averaged 20 as opposed to his career average of 21. Sehwag has never played with a bowler averaging even close to 25, forget about 20..... and Ambrose and Walsh weren't stopping Lara from scoring the double hundreds when they were at their "supposed peak" according to you.

I got that wrong, I concede. But you claimed only one out of his nine doubles was in a winning cause and I had mentioned in six of those he didn't get to play alongside Walsh or Curtly, so... Btw you seem to safely stay away from mentioning about the batting "greats" Lara got to play with. Why not compare them with the fab four? Just because you want to big up Sehwag you can't ridicule another great and if cricket is all about numbers then Michael Hussey is the best player carrying the bat today.

Sehwag's stats speak for themselves... 2 triple hundreds & one 290+, multiple 200+ all scored at run a ball, averaging 50+ at a SR of near 80. All this achieved while opening the innings :hatsoff: Even if Sehwag hangs up his boots today he would be a legend of the game who changed the way cricket was played, especially opening and showed that batsmen (and that too openers) can win the matches as well.
