Cricketics Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 look one game Agarkar didn't play for Mumbai and Mumbai bowling seems to be in tatters Saurashtra put 600 something for just 4 wkts. Legend Aggy is definately missing here.
Mr. Wicket Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 nope, it's in Saurashtra, where the track's a ROAD. Look at the scores from all the last games there ticz.
Mr. Wicket Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Anyway - if he is unfit' date=' he is unfit.[/quote'] Who cares? He's unfit for international cricket, that is enough.

Holysmoke Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 This is a typical Ajit Agarkar over; Good ball beat the outside edge........Single.......Two.....Good ball rapped on the pads, loud shout for lbw, not given.....Four.....Wide... Single.. Final analysis: Overs bowled; 1 Runs conceeded; 8 Wickets; 0 That sums him up perfectly :cantstop:
Ram Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Its actually quite fitting that there is a thread on Agarkar at this point, coz very shortly, another player is set to break one record that Ajit holds, that I thought no one could ever break. Even guys like Saqlain and Bond, who had prolific starts to their international careers couldnt come close. But now, a phenom named Ajantha Mendis is all set to break it. Yes, am talking about the fastest to 50 ODI wickets. :((
Ram Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 how many more does Mendis need? He already has 42 wickets from a ridiculous 16 matches, at a video-game average of 10. He will probably do it in the next 3,4 matches, AT WORST! This guy shouldnt be allowed to play normal international cricket with normal international players. Engineer some robots that play cricket and ask him to play amongst 'em I say!

Desi Cartman Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Mendis is an amazing talent ... I love to watch him bowl (against teams other than India)
fineleg Posted November 25, 2008 Author Posted November 25, 2008 Mendis is an amazing talent ... I love to watch him bowl (against teams other than India) very important!
bharat297 Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 ^ How he handles the Aussies will be the true test. India's mistake was that they (except Sehwag) allowed him to settle. I doubt Hayden (if he is still playing then) will give him that same leniancy. If Mendis gets into a groove he'll rip through the Aussies.
flamy Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 I actually love to watch Mendis bowl, even against India.

The thing that Aussies do much better than others is that they study videos. They were the ones who could figure out Murali's doosra and they eventually figured out Saqlain as well. I am sure they will study Mendis a lot and look to attack him. But that doesn't mean they will always succeed. But, I am guessing they will do better than the Indians.

donkey Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 We dnt need aggy back. although we could definately use someone like him....we desperately need a genuine allrounder and aggy was one of the closest contenders ever since Kapil Dev...unless Irfan Pathan gets his banana swing back I no hope for India.
flamy Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 This is a typical Ajit Agarkar over; Good ball beat the outside edge........Single.......Two.....Good ball rapped on the pads, loud shout for lbw, not given.....Four.....Wide... Single.. Final analysis: Overs bowled; 1 Runs conceeded; 8 Wickets; 0 Am sorry, there is absolutely no place for such a guy. During the times when our fast bowling stocks were so pathetic that were forced to include guys like Thiru Kumaran, Abey Kuruvilla, Debashish Mohanty etc, Agarkar looked like a Godsend to Indian cricket. But now, with guys like Zak, Ishant, Munaf, RPS, Irfan, Sreesanth and Praveen Kumar, Ajit Agarkar should be nowwhere near ANY international Indian team. WHOA WHOA WHOA! :orderorder::orderorder: Mohanty was awesome, I don't remember anyone bowling yorkers in the very first over. I loved watching him uproot them Pakiz :D
flamy Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 :(( sadomaso...? I just love quality cricket. case in point: T20 Semifinal Ind vs Aus
fineleg Posted October 20, 2010 Author Posted October 20, 2010 This is not a joke , really! usually i dont say good things abt aggy, but... Sharma's response (icf ka sharma) got me to pause and think abt Sir AA...he is innocuous in Tests, but is he really that bad in ODIs??? He's a good first change and more than useful bowler from overs 40-50. Good slower ball, yorkers etc. Why is he TOTALLY out of consideration from ODIs nowadays? Decent fielder also. should he be 'in consideration' if only alongside praveen kumar, RPS...? Here is a guy called Vinay Kumar who has looked very ordinary and player like Irfan Pathan who can bat and can bowl well is sitting out. Agarkar too has been one of our best odi bowlers and he is too not being givefn another chance. With world cup around, one of these 2 really need to be forced in to the squad. We definately need either of the two for this world cup. p.s - don't want any crap post or sarcastic post related to agarkar. Reading Ticz thread, reminded me of this - Agarkar for ODIs thread Seriously this is NOT a joke!!! Why cant Agarkar play when Vinay Kumar can? And Sir Aggy is a better fielder and can bat better than the likes of Munaf Patel. Munaf Patel is no Glen Mcgrath, though he did do alright in SL and can get some chances as well.
