koksmayu
Karachi: India remains safe in the eyes of international cricketers despite terror strikes in Mumbai not because of good security but the money-making opportunities it offers to them, feels former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif. "I think (Australian captain Ricky) Ponting should be honest enough to say that the cricket world needs to express solidarity with India because of its huge commercial market for cricket, it has nothing to do with the security situation," Latif told PTI on Monday. He said the double standards of teams like Australia have been exposed now as while they had avoided playing in Pakistan for the past 10 years, they were ready to play in India despite the deadly terror strikes in Mumbai. "It is really terrible the way the International cricket Council and other boards are insisting on having cricket resume in India. What happened in Mumbai was terrible but the fact is that if teams can play in India why not in Pakistan," he questioned. Latif, who played 37 Tests and 169 one-dayers, said the security situation was the same all over the world. "Anything can happen anywhere and when teams can accept security assurances from the Indian board and government, why can't they do the same when Pakistan board and government urges them to tour?" he asked. "The money India is putting into cricket nowadays no one can dare to refuse that. It is greed and nothing else," he added. Link to comment

DomainK
Ex Pakistani cricketers have an itch of giving statements. The older they get, the worse the itch gets. A desperation to show to be in the news. And they do it mostly by giving masala statements. Link to comment

Dinx - the Jinx
Ofcourse' date=' Money comes first.... If England has won the Stanford these players wouldnt even look at India- they would have been talking only about Ashes[/quote'] Agreed. English are clearly coming to India due to money related matters. If they dont come now, and when they want to come back in April to play IPL, who'll respect them anyways? Remember the open statements in media from Flintoff and Harmisson that lack of participation in IPL is affecting their ODI form. I dont know how many of you read those articles and had a good laugh at it. Dont these jokers know that they are the ones who invented T20 and they play more T20s in their counties than the 15 match IPL? But the point of the thread is - why Rashid Latif is agitated that England is coming to India. When they know that English are coming for the money, either they should be able to wade the dollars on their visitors place or shut the phack up and go clean the mess caused by terrorism in their country. Instead he should be questioning their PMs and Presidents and poiliticians to eliminate the terrorists, hand over Miandad's relative to India so that slowly Pakistan can get back to normalcy and host a test match in 2015 atleast Link to comment

But yes, it's the money as well. Link to comment
Guest dada_rocks
We are giving lecture on greed from a nation whose cricketers all of them at one point were in matchfixing not only that, their cricket board decided it was oke to let the offenders continue playing Link to comment
