rkt.india Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Errr....Zaheer and Ishant buttsecksed the Australian fast bowlers last year. Zaheer' date=' RP Singh, and Sreesanth buttsecksed the English bowlers in England.[/quote'] Credit goes to Indian batsman not bowlers, English bowling is far superior than India right now, dont forget these were our spinners who also helped our seamers to good effect, England bowled superbly on that tour, but our batsman handled them well, other than that English batting is not as powerful as India's. They struggle against disciplined attack, which Aus lacked this time. their bowlers took wickets but they were expensive and not accurate, take the example pf Mitchell Johnson. Against Australia, i dont rate indian win to high until they beat Australia in Australia, Indian team can beat any team at home easily. India will always be favorites at home. Until india beat AUS and SA at their backyard till then Indian team is not #1.o
Lord Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 pak be number 10 soon aswell lol this looks more likely
The Outsider Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 India are not playing as few tests as some are making it out here. Only England had more tests scheduled in the FTP than India and Australia. It's the lop sided fixtures which give this appearance at times. Remember, Australia did not play a single test for 10 months in 2007 and won't be playing a single test for 8 months again next year. India's test schedule is flooded after the '11 WC when we play 18 test matches in 1 year. We played very little tests in the 90s but our numbers have been good in 00s and specially in the current FTP(oxymoron). India has a golden opportunity to hit the number one ranking after the South Afirca series at home next year. Sri Lanka is ranked number 2 and beating them would give us enough points for the India-South Africa series to be a number 1 position shootout. Under Dhoni I expect us to win both series comfortably. For one, he is not afraid of getting pitches in our favor as he showed at Kanpur and Nagpur and is the best tactical leader we have had since perhaps Pataudi. I expect us to be number 1 in tests this March and number 1 in ODIs by lifting the Champions Trophy.
Kashmir_boy Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 theres no chance india can be called number 1 test team for a long time we dont have the bowlers to take 20 wickets in a match. We have tooo many out of form fast bowlers, ie ishant, patel, rp and sreesanth and of course pathan, our only really fast consistent bowler is khan and bhaji has too much pressure on spin department we have the batting quality we lack bowling and will remain like that for some time

Yeah, I know SA beat us in 2000 and Australia in '04, but those were completely different teams. Regarding the English tour, Zaheer was miles and away the best bowler of the series from either side! It's naive to say that the difference was only our batting. The original disucssion was not about winning and losing anyways, it was about how our fast bowlers stack up against Australia and England. Fact is our fast bowlers were miles better than Australia's in the series in India and in England. Just look at the manner in which Lee, Clark, and Johnson were hammered to all corners in India and compare it to the man of the series performance from Ishant.
Pak_Forever Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 you guys play so much and still are not number 1?! Being ranked #1 for few months won't be anything special. If only any team could rule the rankings like Australia or West Indies for decades, only then one should feel proud about the top most position. India for me is far far away from being good enough to dominate rankings for good long years.

India for me is far far away from being good enough to dominate rankings for good long years. Then fking stop celebrating your meager T20 win. Winning 1 WC is not enough. You have win atleast 2 consecutively to have any meaning to the tag "World champions" like the WI of the 70s or the Aussies this decade. For me pak is lightyears away from being called a world champion even if its in a hit or miss format.
ShermanAve Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 For me pak is lightyears away from being called a world champion even if its in a hit or miss format. Pak reached 2 consecutive 20/20 finals and won 1 of them which proves that Pak are obviously the king of 20/20 format right now and nobody can argue it.Pak also have the best international 20/20 record with 78% wins.
Pakiboii Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 73 All out..The Great 2007 T20 Champions...:nervous:.
Guest Hiten. Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Pakistan are yet to beat India in T20...doesn't that make us the king of T20 ? :nervous:

Guest Hiten. Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Well some kings..73 all out.. Again, how many times did you beat us ? World beaters huh :hehe:

Lets see........We won a test in Aus (but got bucknored in the series) and drew the series last time.We got a series win in Eng and WI. We beat Aus at home. So yeah, we are a damn good team. So how many other T20 tournaments did pak win?Oh wait......there isnt even any other T20 international tournament. Our test credentials are much better that your T20 credential. I dont know how stupid someone has to be to believe that climbing the ladder by playing well over a few years is worse than winning 1 tournament in a format not even played properly.
Sachinism Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Thats rich. Pakistani fans laughing at India's performance . You won a slogathon, but what happened after that? Got ripped a new ***** hole in SL
MSDhoni Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 I have to say with several retirements coming up I don't see us number 1 anytime soon.
