Ok guys, I've got an English essay to do on; "Should we all become vegetarian." Can anyone give me a few names of famous sports players who were/are vegetarian. Thanks guys.

Off the top of my head: Javagal Srinath (switched later), Virender Sehwag, Krishnamachari Srikkanth. I then cheated:http://www.ivu.org/people/sports/index.html This site lists Carl Lewis, Ed Moses and M. Navratilova as vegetarians. Am not sure how credible the information is ... they list Serena Williams; somehow I doubt that.

In a show on NDTV, Navjot S Sidhu told that he used to be non-veg but an incident changed his outlook and he became a vegetarian. About the incident, he and his friends had gone hunting and they shot a female deer, and inside was its baby. It reminded him of his kids and wife. As you can imagine, it seems like a horrific scene and that's how Siddhu went to being a vegetarian.

Whatever you do, don't put Srinath's claim "I am the fastest vegetarian bowler in the world" in it. :giggle:

Batsmen alert: He may look like he’s after your blood but he really isn’t and he may look beastly in his run-up but he’s really a beauty. And while cricket fans make up their mind whether they like Sreesanth or not, veggie lovers voted him the Sexiest Indian Vegetarian Alive, along with Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor, in PETA India’s annual online poll. The website describes him thus: “as easy on the eyes as he is hard on his opponents. “A young and exuberant player who has got the moves on the pitch and on the dance floor, it's no wonder that 'The Prince of hat-tricks' has been crowned our king of veggie Valentinos!” With his new buffed-up look, it won’t be long before Sreesanth leads the Indian version of the Men of Cricket calendar. http://blogs.cricinfo.com/thebuzz/archives/2009/02/sreesanth_the_sexy_vegetarian.php
