In 2001, BJP teamed with DMK and ADMK got the anti-brahmin votes. In 2006, ADMK teamed with BJP and DMK got the votes. Nothing to do with anybody's popularity. But in 2001, DMK alliance lost 9 seats with a margin of less than 2% - if they had been lucky and won those seats, their share could have been 46 seats. In 2006, ADMK alliance won 14 seats with a margin of less than 2%. If they had been unlucky, they could have lost these seats, and then their share becomes 55 seats. (The reverse could be argued too - in 2001 DMK could have ended up with even lesser seats and in 2006 ADMK could have ended up with even more seats - but the point is, using the number of seats won as an indicator of popularity can not be correct in our first-past-the-post system).

Her middle name is swindling. Unless her conscience has massively bothered her, and she has undergone a total ulta change of heart, she'll swindle the treasury with her smartness and gain up on personal wealth like you'd have never thought of. I believe she didn't repeat that in her second term. Her second term had contoversies related to the Kanchi issue and firing Govt employees and nothing related to corruption. The ADMK is definitely better than the color-tv DMK. Btw are there any brahmins still left in TN? The way they have been discrimintated, they should have left the state a long time back.
