Sachinism
Colombo: India will fund building a brand new cricket stadium in Sri Lanka's southern Hambantota district, where the authorities expect to host at least a couple of 2011 World Cup matches. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Competent Authority S Liyanagama has said the Hambantota International Cricket Stadium "will be introduced to the ICC list as an alternate venue but will subsequently be named as one of the main venues to host World Cup matches to be played in Sri Lanka in February 2011". "We are hoping to start construction work by the end of March. The major portion of the financing for this project will come from India and we have formalised the preliminary work," the local Sunday Times newspaper quoted Liyanagama, who is also secretary to the ministry of sports, as saying. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh - the four major cricket playing nations in the sub-continent - are billed to co-host the event which will run for six weeks and have a maximum of 49 matches. Of the 15 World Cup venues, eight would be in India, four in Pakistan, two in Sri Lanka and one in Bangladesh. According to SLC CEO Duleep Mendis, at present the first choices of the Sri Lanka venues are the R Premadasa Stadium and the Rangiri Dambulla Stadium, where day-night matches could be held. He said two other stadium have been named as alternate venues. http://cricketnext.in.com/news/india-to-fund-new-stadium-in-sl-for-world-cup/38500-13.html Link to comment

coffee_rules
No wonder, bro. Those SLans didn't try hard enough to beat India. But they play well so well against us. Very clearly fixing has been taking place. - Jamal Malik. Link to comment
Sachinism
how about increasing the facilities in the stadiums in India???? fecking maggots... Agree. With the amount of money BCCI have, we should have the best ground with the best facilities in the world. Last WC, BCCI paid for a new ground to be built in WI and now they help fund one in SL. Charity should start at home. Link to comment

Guest Hiten.
I do not buy this BS. Remember BCCI were going to help WI (or some other board) in building a stadium ? Well....they were just rumors in the air. BCCI never invests money neither in India or outside India. They are there to fill their pockets, not empty it :dontknow: Link to comment

EnterTheVoid
Considering the despicable state our cricket stadiums, why has the BCCI gone to fix someone else' problems? Didn't I S Bindra attribute the poor crowds during the BG test series for the shoddy state of the cricket stadias? Link to comment
