CSK Fan Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 I like how Indian vegeterians try to assert their moral superiority whereas, unlike most of the western vegeterains, these guys are vegeterians for religious and family reasons and not by choice. They have grown up having taught to abhor meat and taught it is a sin to eat it. Now they try to pretend it is all for health reason, etc Reminds me a lot of some Muslims who try to point out harm in eating pork or Hindus harm in eating beef.

velu Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Back in the day there were Hunters and Gatherers. Hunters(Non-Veggies of the present day) Were just relegated to throw their spears/bow and arrows and kill poor defenseless animals-So no brain needed there The Gatherers(Veggies) Had to think before gathering the food-See which one was the right fruit/veggie which wasn't poisonous etc,Save the food against climate factors etc. So the study is 100% right :hmmm: 1rTYCc2ZF2o#t=142
CSK Fan Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 You are generalizing this on what? My feeling of genuine superiority as an alpha as feck meat eater. P.S, there are some examples in this thread

Precambrian Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 My feeling of genuine superiority as an alpha as feck meat eater. P.S, there are some examples in this thread on the contrary, I've felt the opposite in my social circles. When someone used to realize I am a vegetarian - that too by choice, the first reaction is disbelief followed by genuine appreciation. I've seen many people asking me how I manage it (not eating meat) - something they've tried so much but they cannot. I don't take it as a compliment - although I like it like any other good words spoken about one. but I don't think eating non veg is bad or veg is good from an ethical point of view. The same goes for consumption of alcohol as well.

I used to eat non-veg in my childhood. Left it because of moral reasons, so i definitely believe that I am morally superior to most meat eaters for the same reason but never assert or even discuss that.

It's the other way around. Non veg desi trying to show off as meat eating is cool. Almost like a peer pressure to eat meat. My best friend who was veg all his life turned Non Veg 2 years back purely due to peer pressure. I have never told anyone in my group to ever turn veg or told any benefits, but I have been told and made fun of my veggie diet thousand times. Makes me sick!

Peer pressure leads to drinking, smoking, etc. This shows eating meat is considered an equally guilty thing for these guys and not normal food. Which just proves my point And you want to know how veggies usually oppress others? I was denied a house in Bangalore many times just because I cook and eat meat. Reliance recently ended all sales of non-veg in all stores. They fired many people as a result. I, who used to shop their was inconvenienced. Adani group of companies is sponsoring Master Chef and made sure this season will be all veg. On a cookery show where cooks are supposed to learn all skills. Imagine if we had a non-veg only show You are talking of some peer pressure and people making fun of you, mostly in the west. In India, despite almost 70% o people being non-vegetarians, vegetarians impose their standards over others. Most road side eateries in Karnataka are veg only. This form of discrimination has happened in India for a long time.

The same goes for consumption of alcohol as well. I am nothing but admiration for people who are veg by choice. It is one of the toughest things to do. And because you were a non-veg before, you are not going to judge or discriminate others. You will have no problems giving your house on rent to a meat eater. You won't move away if your colleague is eating meat. Etc, etc.

Yes, some words on a website is very much equal to having veg only restaurants, not giving your house to a meat eater, not sitting with people eating meat, etc, etc. What a tough life vegetarians have in India when the vegetarians always impose their wills on non-vegetarians.
BlueBee Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Once I ate ants as a kid because a friend told me it gives super vision.....dooorr tak deekhai dega....:(( I ate ants too but not because of anything vision related. One guy told me I will be able to swim like them. :embarrassed:

Not sure if it is because of the cooking style or whatever, I couldn't stand it growing up.
Kalia_Test Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I am a vegetarian and will not give my house on rent for non-vegetarians. This is for religious reasons ( in family and I have decided not to interfere) and I don't think anyone should have a problem with it. Would a muslim non-vegetarian give his house on rent to a pork eating hindu or a hindu non-vegetarian give his house on rent to a beef eating muslim non-vegetarian? However, I have no issues when others around me eat non-veg. I am not one to judge the choice of others.
riya Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I am a non veg basically, occasionally go veg as part of vrath.I don't find it difficult, i make Dosa dough in plenty,so that i can have Dosa every day at dinner.Thats the only thing i never find boring during a veg diet. Other wise making curries for chappathis can be tiresome..I usually have my lunch with veg dry and gravy version.So.. By the way Veg Snacks in my opinion (especially Desi snacks) are superior IMO.Nothing can beat hot hot medu vada or samosa or Onion Vada with a hot tea on a cold day.Yummy!!
