Gambit
For me, it has to be the 2003 World Cup Final. I avoid highlights/replays of that game like the plague and fortunately have seen snippets of that game since I watched it live, only a couple of times at the most. Despite the '96 semi having a profoundly more painful impact on me, I have seen highlights of that game a bit more than I would have liked. Watching the 2007 World cup game v SL live was out of the question for me as I was just too tense about it. Thankfully, neither did I t watch it live, nor have I seen highlights of that game, ever. Hence, it doesn't qualify. Link to comment
WeStMiDz
2003 Final for me too. Watched it live but like you have avoided anything related to it ever since. Link to comment
graphic23
Watched '03 Final live. I do avoid highlights, but if it wasn't us at the receiving end, I'd admire the 140* by Ponting a lot more too. '96 Semifinal, I only vaguely remember, and don't want to watch it. '07 league game against SL brings the most pain. I couldn't sleep properly for more than a week. Then everytime, the WC came on TV, I'd not even feel like eating. Luckily I didn't watch this live due to exams. I generally tend to avoid games in which India lost though, unless its like the Desert Storm game or where individual brilliance by an Indian is there to appreciate (so like all the games in the 90s where Sachin did well). Mr. Wicket
07. Not even that good a cricket match. Sri Lanka played well, India were mediocre - nothing really even worth going out of your way to see unless you're one of those Paki saddos. The 96 game was an excellent match because of Aravinda's really outstanding knock and Tendulkar's innings on a really tough pitch. Both really amazing displays of quality batsmanship on a challenging wicket. (The other 96 WC defeat against Sri Lanka's also great to watch; just for the quality of both Tendulkar's batting clinic and then Jayasuriya's murder, particularly his dismantling of Prabhakhar). Have seen the 03 final a couple of times and it's impressive just to see how far ahead of the pack Australia were at that time. Martyn's innings is an outstanding knock, especially when you add in the context of the broken finger that he played with. Although to see the way Srinath left the game is really sad - after all he gave to Indian cricket and the way he helped nurture the next generation of quicks to succeed him (something Kapil never could be bothered doing) he really deserved better than to be slaughtered at the hands of a batting juggernaut. dial_100
Yuo, I didn't get to watch 03 Final, and 07 SL. I didn't have a TV. But 96 match which I watched live. It used to hurt for many years. NO more though. The other two games, I didn't feel 10% bad. Way far ahead on these things emotionally. I love to see India doing good but I hardly feel bad when they lose. Link to comment
Ram
'96 World cup semi-final, 81 all out against West Indies in the 5th final test, 4th innings of the Sydney test against Australia and the 4th innings of the Chennai test against Pakistan.. Link to comment
Mr. Wicket
81 all out against West Indies Oh god. Now THAT is a painful memory (probably more painful than all those WC losses combined for me). Remember watching that live, with the very clear hope - no, expectation - that India would actually win abroad, which at the time was HUGE. That too against the West Indies, with a bowling lineup that was still to be feared with Ambrose and Walsh in there, and some brilliant batsman. And then to see it all come crashing down in that collapse - that too with a target of 120 that was SO reachable - was truly gutting. That is one game I never want to see again. Link to comment

punjabi_khota
World cup 96 ..no doubt about it. I was 12, too young, too emotional...and it hurt the most. First world cup I actually followed and understood properly... Sri Lankan mofos have this habit of inflicting pain on us at bad moments in WC..he gave them some in 99 but ... Link to comment
