Its the reverse which is usually true. For punjabi's commonly, I hear - Singh/Kaur, Sood etc. Though Singh is quite common in UP etc too.

S Many sindhis are believers of guru actually, have cermonies etc in a gurudwara

Singh/Kaur in Punjab only tells you that the person is a Sikh. Mostly Sikhs have another last name, which they may/may not use frequently and some of them are common with hindus also. e.g khanna,dhingra,arora etc are both hindu and sikh surnames.

I know several Iranians whose names end with 'ani' and 'ami'...tamijani' date='tamami,etc..any relation to sindhis ?[/quote'] There could be a persian connection, however there are many italians with last name ending in "ani" as well, but it not always "ani" there are bhatias, ending with "ja" and some mixed like punjabi and singh and there are more types within like bhaiband and names of cities in sindh, like larkhana etc

He said he is from hyderabad, noticing that he looks northie i asked him casually whats his native place. He was visibly uneasy with that question and I was confused whats there to be so uneasy about and left it at that. Later I came to know he is a sindhi.

Tvah khay Chet-i-chand jayon laakh wadaiyan athav ( Hope I said it the right) I am totally interested in Sindhi language and culture. :icflove: Tried to find a Sindhi tutor, but the problem was that there are very few of those around. Another problem is that the language is written in the nastaliq (Arabic) script which very few modern Indian Sindhis know. Love SIndhi plays too. Who exactly is Jhulelal? I thought the song "O lal meri" was in Punjabi, not Sindhi? me is wrong?
