sahil325
T20 World Cup: India get easy draw Defending champions India have been placed in an easy group A -- alongside Bangladesh and Zimbabwe -- for the 2009 ICC Twenty20 cricket World Championships in England. Since not enough matches have been played in the shortest format of the game to allow viable official rankings, the Board decided to group teams on the basis of their finishing positions in the inaugural edition of the championship this year. ODI world champions Australia have been placed in group C along with Sri Lanka and West Indies. Groups: Group A: India, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe Group B: Pakistan, England, Associate 1 Group C: Australia, Sri Lanka, West Indies Group D: New Zealand, South Africa, Associate 2. Link to comment
Zap_Brannigan
Depends on the format on which is the easier group. If only 1 team goes thro to the next round, then yes, India is in the easiest group. But if 2 teams go thro, then Pak, Eng, NZ and SA have easier games. Pak,Eng,NZ and SA needs just a win against the associate team to qualify(assuming that associate teams doesnt win anything) but Ind wd have to beat both the test teams (although lowly ranked). If India loses even one game it could end it as anyone of BD and Zim has a gd chance against each other. Either way, Group C is the toughest. Link to comment

Macj
Obviously the BCCI maskafied the draw and had India in a weak pool to help them cool off from the rigors of IPL. Link to comment

Lolz, even though i know what you mean Macj, there is a seeding process behind the formation of these Groups. India being seeded No.1, Pakistan as No.2 and so forth ... These seeds are based on the Last WC positions. Link to comment
DomainK
I think if anyone got an easy draw, its Bangladesh. Now they can reach the second level at least. Link to comment
