Guys.. We have had so much of Indian cricket+chappell+ sachin to discuss about that i thought it will be good if talk about something else.. I was going through the stats all the fast bowlers and Shane Bond's stats simply blew me away.. In tests he has a got a good record.. Mat Runs HS BatAv 100 50 W BB BowlAv 5w Ct St 16 138 41* 13.80 0 0 74 6/51 22.10 4 6 0 The stats get better for ODI's.. Mat Runs HS BatAv 100 50 W BB BowlAv 5w Ct St 63 198 31* 15.23 0 0 120 6/19 19.05 4 12 0 An Average of 19.05 !! i have never seen something like that before.. If you are impressed by that , then look at his record againt Aus.. Mat Runs HS BatAv 100 50 W BB BowlAv 5w Ct St 11 40 26 13.33 0 0 34 6/23 13.88 3 5 0 An average of 13 !!! that too against the australians !!! Bond is the best fast bowler in the world right now... If only he could stay more injury free...

Think if Bond can do this to the Aussies...what the Windies Four Prong of Roberts, Holding, Garner, Marshall or Croft would have done to them... It also emphasizes the SHEER class of the the batting of the likes of Mohinder Amarnath and Sunil Gavaskar...

Re: Something different to discuss about.. Shane Bond.. Shane Bond is a one off. I thought he could be a one year wonder but he proved otherwise. When he was away from cricket due to injuries for nearly 3 years I had thrown in the towel but it is way amazing the way he has come back. He has infact gotten better and seems to get better every game. Wicket when you want it and the man is a very low profile character. Imagine if had played for India. By now he would have been sitting at home for the simple reason that he would have been burned by bowling too much or would have lost form bowling on flat ODI pitches. You have to laud NZ cricket for providing him a lot of support while he was away. Bondy was on contract and also they let him do commentary work for about a year when he was side lined with injury. Also the team management knows his worth, he is managed really well. It is not like he is made to play every game or he is bowled non stop. Good that they use him in bursts not with standing the status of the match.

Re: Something different to discuss about.. Shane Bond.. Well Sri Lanka under Jayawardane have done a similarly superb job with Malinga...they have preserved him for the key games... They dont play him on when they know the wicket is a flat patta in Tests... for that they have Murali and Co... And If they play him they bowl him in shortish bursts with the new ball and later with the old ball when it is reversing... usually right after or before a break...giving him plenty of time to recoup....

Bond used to be my favourite fast bowler along with Lee. Sad he couldn't keep up with all the injuries.

His delivery too clean bowl Ponting at home in 2008 test series was brilliant.

Ya, I remember that ball. Ishant was the next big thing those days. In WC 2003, BOWLING Standard was so much better than today.. Every team had 2-3 good fast bowlers.

Now batsmen back themselves to thrash anyone with the advent of T20 which has affected ODIs the most.

I really loved the contest between bat and ball because pitches were really balanced. Most teams were better than their modern counterparts. That Australian team was easily the best ODI team ever. Indian team was also better than our current team. New Zealand, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Pakistan... every team was really good.
