rahulrulezz Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 I actually went to his show last year in Kitchner/Waterloo region.. Red, White and Brown....There was no adversting, no promotions at all for his show... I was expecting there wont be much people coz of less publicity and I will be sitting upfront and get his signature.. Guess what, it was packed!!! never seen taht much ppl before at one place in Canada......cant believe I actually paid 75$ just to sit on the backmost seat where I could barely even see him..

nikred Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 34.50 joke is like 4-5 years old now. I think Red' date=' White and brown was his best so far.[/quote'] So what if its 4-5 years old the way he says it is really funny. Red, white and brown was good too with some fresh jokes. I can't wait to see the new one.:icflove:
nikred Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 russel peters shot into fame after making fun of Indian accent/culture in front of white audiences:finger: ' date=' after that he started involving oriential, caucasian & mexican people. one ugly mofo this bastard is, I hate this ugly***got.[/quote'] That's the case for many comedians. The good thing about Russell Peters is that he evolved as a comedian in the sense he started observing other races too. You have to be really good at it to make jokes about other races for a person of that race laughs at it. He makes fun of white people too, its not like he spares them. You need to lighten up and stop taking things seriously.

Ram Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 If you see some of his earlier videos (this was before the youtube/google videos revolution that propelled him into stardom), he actually rubbishes Asian (especially Indian) people a lot. Its like everything than a White comic would have wanted to mock about Asians, but couldnt do so for practical reasons, Russell Peters did so. But, after he became popular, he cut down on those crass jokes, probably because he realized that a big proportion of his audience were Asians. The interesting thing about Russell is, when he speaking to a white audience, he plays this Indian guy who just happened to be born in Canada, but when he's addressing an Indian/Asian audience, he is like this Canadian who just happens to be Indian.

Have you seen other comic acts?Almost everyone i have seen makes fun of their culture/backgrounds because its an easy material and they cannot be called racists or such. Seth rogen and Jon Stewart makes fun of jews. Dave Chapelle, Chris rock, eddie murphy made fun of black people. Russell peters is no different. This guy has made fun of pretty much every culture but mostly Indian.

You have to understand that the distinction I am trying to make here - Peters mocks Indian people even now, but in his earlier years, he absolutely rubbished them. Imagine the picture of a white, redneck, racist stand-up comic and the kind of jokes he will crack about immigrants, Peters did that sort of stuff. But as i mentioned, that was a loooooooong time ago. He's graduated well past those stupid jokes.

He has graduated from typical Indian jokes Also, we shouldn't be shocked about stereotyping - he can't be anything but making fun of Indians - thats what he is! now he's accepted everywhere, infact he hosted juno awards too Take Kal penn for eg., he wouldn't be anywhere where he is now if he wasn't ur typical NRI Indian See his new material, u will change ur mind

Just saying that, when he started out, his 'jokes' were not funny after all, especially if you were Indian.
