I can't tolerate Shah Rukh insulting Gavaskar: Miandad New Delhi Former Pakistan captain Javed Miandad has lashed out at Bollywood Superstar Shah Rukh Khan for his "verbal volleys" at Sunil Gavaskar on multiple captain theory prior to the start of IPL-II. Shah Rukh had backed his Kolkata Knight Riders' coach John Buchanan's multiple captain idea and had criticised Gavaskar for his remarks against the Australian's coaching method. And Miandad, paying tribute to Gavaskar on the occasion of his 60th birthday, wondered if the legendary batsman was yet to win the respect of his "rich and famous" compatriots despite his contributions to the country. "It happened before the Indian Premier League-2 got under way in South Africa, but it still rankles me. I simply cannot tolerate the insult Shah Rukh Khan heaped on our icon," Miandad wrote in a book compiled by veteran journalist Debashish Dutta. "Even my fellow cricketers in Pakistan were shocked... by Shah Rukh's verbal volleys. It is sad that despite achieving so much for his country Sunil Gavaskar is yet to earn the respect of rich and famous," he said. "I know that these days money talks but, believe me, no amount of money can produce another Gavaskar. By insulting Sunny, Shah Rukh has indirectly insulted us, too," he added. Miandad, who has had three stints as coach of Pakistan team, also advised Shah Rukh to learn some sportsman spirit from Gavaskar. "Sunny is a gentleman and it is his greatness that he ignored Shah Rukh's comments. It only showed how spirited a man Sunny is. Shah Rukh should learn from Sunil," he said. Another Pakistan great Wasim Akram rued that despite his 400 wickets in both Tests and ODIs, he could not find success against Gavaskar. "When I look back on my long playing career, I feel quite happy and satisfied. However, I have just one minor regret – I could not dismiss Sunil Gavaskar even once in Test matches. I have claimed Gavaskar's wicket just once in my career. It was in an ODI in Hyderabad on our tour of India in 1986-87," he wrote. ........ "By insulting Sunny, Shah Rukh has indirectly insulted us, too," he added. WTF does that useless, senile old geezer mean by that ? Saala lost his marbles long ago. Just read the article again. For starters, Miandad is a [....] for getting involved in matters that doesn't inolve him. Secondly, the article doesn't make the slightest bit of sense. Thirdly, how does such useless baseless crap ever make the news ?

Miandad speaks like he was a regular bowler in the pak set-up.." I regret not getting gavaskar's wicket" ... wth ! Thats like inzi saying he regrets not getting tendu's wicket
Miandad was a regular part-time bowler in the first few years of his career - more like Tendulkar than Inzi PS - It is not mandatory that anything and everything Pakistani should be abused

But anything called Miadad should not be trusted or respected.

yeah but SRK is still a weasel!!
CG, SRK spoke about this incident later. He clearly said that he did not intend to offend Gavaskar in any which way. When he said "agar takleef hai, toh khud apni team khareed le jiye...."(which btw there is no harm in saying as it is his money and his team), he was referring to the general public. It is just that he was talking about Gavaskar and then he said this right after. In spite of this not being his intention, he apologized to Gavaskar. I respect both SRK and SMG and both their statements were absolutely correct. It is clear that the media created this controversy.

coffee, i know you hate SRK, but to use India hater Miandad's comments against another Indian is a low blow. Whether you like SRK or not, he is an Indian and has added (entertainment) value to the lives of many Indians. As for Miandand worrying about Indians.:finger:

SRK is a joker. But Miadad is a much bigger joker and an idiot. He is just using both SMG and SRK to get some media coverage.
Exactly, but I also wanted to ask who gave Gavaskar the right to comment on everyone. I mean imagine yourself a owner of a small shop who is just beginning a new business, and then some mall owner comes and gives you advice on how your shop is bad and misused. You are more likely to ignore him.
