Even claiming that cos he gets one batsman out and gets spanked by everyone else that her should be in the team:(( Dilshan has smashed our attack in this series all over the place with an average of 83 and a strike rate of 121 with 2 tons. So the claim he is some kind of Dilshan slayer frankly is hollow and spurious. Nehra has been horrific in this series with only the hapless Ishant bowling worse. The difference is Ishant should be dropped but has a future if he goes and works hard. While Nehra should not be anywere near the team EVER! Link to comment
Sooda Posted December 25, 2009 Share Posted December 25, 2009 Indian pacemen this year Nehra 31 wkts in 20 matches at 29 Zaheer 12 wkts in 12 matches at 47 Ishant 29 wkts in 21 matches at 33 Praveen 17 wkts in 19 matches at 42 All our pacemen havent been good this series, but the pitches have not helped at all. If Nehra is as bad as you think KT, the rest of our pace attack is worse -as you can see from the figs- and we need a complete rehaul. The fact that he's the best we have (I think he's a genuinely good ODI pacer) has been pointed out repeatedly but the only response you ever give is 'he's crap' 'he's useless' :wall: etc etc- nothing factual to add. Anyway what do you suggest the bowling for next ODI series should be then- Tyagi, Zaheer (he was injured for ages after all, do you think we should give him a bit of leeway? ) , Santh and Bhajji B-> With Kulkarni and...erm... say Agarkar on the sidelines...? And since then he has been horrendous. In this series he has been hopeless, only seamer worse has been the equally hapless youngster Ishant. However, you must appreciate that he was strong with the brand new ball and picked up two extremely important wickets of Dilshan and Perera. To claim that these two wickets were not very valuable would be insane. You acknowledge that Ishant Sharma got hit for more runs than Nehra and is hapless. Why not concentrate on removing him from the side first and finding an adequate replacement? Tyagi in for Ishant, we assume, then who comes in for Nehra? You have an extremely strong, aggressive batsman --> Nehra removes him early twice, before he can do substantial damage --> India win the game --> This adds to Nehra's credentials as a bowler in a series against this batsman's team. Kumar who has out bowled nehra many times only to be dropped mysteriously for the protected Nehra. Dinda in squad already. ZK is already there.
