Feed
No sponsor yet for India vs SL test series The BCCI is still struggling to find a title sponsor for the Test series between India and Sri Lanka. More... Friday 6th November 2009 No sponsor yet for SL series The BCCI is still struggling to find a title sponsor for the Test series between India and Sri Lanka. With barely 10 days left for the start of Sri Lanka's tour of India, the delay in getting the sponsor forced the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association to order the printing of tickets for the second Test match, scheduled from November 24, with its own logo instead of a sponsor. UPCA Director Jyoti Vajpayee told PTI that the Indian Cricket Board has not been able to find a title sponsor for the Test series, which begins with the first Test in Ahmedabad from November 16. "After getting a BCCI's go ahead, we have ordered printing of tickets without sponsor logo," Vajpayee said. PD Pathak, another UPCA official, said the distribution of tickets to fans would not be delayed any more, adding that tickets will be sold through State Bank of India counters. Link to comment

Params7
that's what you get when the team doesn't do good and plays against the same team multiple times a year. Link to comment
vvvslaxman
SL is never an attractive opponent in terms of revenue. Australia first. Pakistan second in that regard. Infact SL comes behind teams like SA, England. Link to comment
kabira
still no sponsor means something seriously wrong. Link to comment

saneindian
10 days to go for the series. Thats a lot of time, knowing the BCCI way of working. BCCI has never ever been in a hurry to plan for such things. We are in Novemeber and we dont know if the tour to BD for tests and tri series is on or not? Even for Ind-Aus ODI series, Hero Honda was roped in only at the last moment , perhaps 8-10 days before the series started. Link to comment
SachDan
still no sponsor means something seriously wrong. Absolutely. But who's at fault? :nervous: When the host broadcaster Neo managed to bag big ad deals for this low profile series good three months ago, why is it that difficult for BCCI to find ONE title sponsor ?? Malcolm Merlyn
BCCI waits till the last to get the best deal..........remember a few years ago they signed a contract where they distributed the rights for the title sponsors for 2 years.......they lost a bit of money in it.....so i guess they leave it till the last minute Link to comment
bharat297
The 3rd paceman should be Nehra, but I wouldnt have him in the starting XI for the first match. Instead I'd play 2 spinners, Mishra and Harbhajan. But on current form, Nehra is better than RP or Irfan. Plus, I think in Tests, he might do well. Link to comment

Desi Cartman
I fear that the series will be called "Pan Bahar test series" or "chaini Chani Cup" Link to comment
Zap_Brannigan
The price is probably too high for a Sri lankan series(one Indian series probably costs as much as Pakistans entire year). Remember that all rights to the Indian team itself has been sold for a long time. BCCI has never made any efforts to make a test series marketable nor have they reduced their price in the tough economic condition. I believe that the companies would rather spend millons on ODI's and T20's rather than a test series against SL. By the times the ODI comes around, there will be many. Link to comment
