Dark Warrior Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Every few weeks (4-6), I do a 36-40 hour marathon no-sleep thingie to pull my **** together :hehe: In IIT, it was de rigueur for a LOT of people before/during exam time. any 'energy drink' during that time?
cowboysfan Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 i once went to austin with my friends in the morning of sunday, drove back to dallas around 6 in the morning and attended all my classes(around 36 hours).Red bull works.
punjabi_khota Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 any 'energy drink' during that time? Not in India but now I consume **** loads of coffee every day and have headaches if I don't get coffee before noon. But I think coffee is a nice addiction to have, and sometimes it is fun to sit in cafes rather my stuffy grad student office. The productivity in cafes is inversely propotional to the chick-traffic at that hour of the day.:eyedance:
kabira Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 hehhehehhe LOL I never ever could stay awake for work and study. Sleep was/is important to me no compromise there. My longest time is 32 hours. Not for study, not for work. Guess what, it was for cricket. It was during SA India series in SA last time around and it was Durban test match. I had been up early 8 AM and some last minute shopping left. I was leaving for India next morning and was all excited. So I finished my shopping, started packing etc. and was watching Ashes that started in evening in USA. and after that was done, last day of Durban started, we had to save the game. Ntini was on fire..oh well Rain came and we were so near yet so far. Dhoni should have saved that test match for us. I think if we had batted out 2-3 overs it will have been draw, that test match was as worse as Sydney.
Ram Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 I just recently did a 24 hour non-stop to watch 1st ODI between India and Australia. Slept at around 7 am when Dhoni got out in the chase. Didn’t know Bhajji and PK would take us that close. And because I don’t fly that well, I generally get only 2-3 hours of sleep in a 48 hour time-line, when I am flying home. But what amazes me most is how some guys can look fresh as a daisy and think sharp even after non-stop activity and no sleep whatsoever. If I stay awake for 24-30 hours at a stretch, I’ll look as though as train just ran over me.. :((

I remember the last time I did the 40 hour routine, I was feeling very very tired around 24-26 hour mark and was feeling I would just collapse. I got up, did a few push ups, got some McDs coffee and breakfast, and didn't sleep till end of the day (~14 hours later). But all this extremely unhealthy and obviously should be avoided as much as possible.
EnterTheVoid Posted November 13, 2009 Author Posted November 13, 2009 Some 28 hrs later, physically, I am tired with aches, pains and like but mentally, I am in the 'ZONE' There is a vague chance I might be employed for an engineering / consulting firm this summer (That guy made my day ). Hence, I want to get these exams out of the way, resulting in this marathon stretch. This is not recommended. I am in this mess because of shyt time management

That’s what people tell me … ‘If you ride out the toughest bits, it’ll just blow off..’ But its never worked that way for me.. Beyond a point, it just gets progressively downhill for me.

StriKe Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 30 hrs+ Used to be awake only on weekends for online gaming beta test :P and having fun on irc
graphic23 Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Never had to. Probably 22 hours is the longest I've gone. I generally try to manage my time so that I can get at least a few hours of sleep. I'm really awful if I dont.
The Outsider Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 This is insanity - even during some really tough scheduling/exams I've been able to catch 1-2 hour naps.
EnterTheVoid Posted November 14, 2009 Author Posted November 14, 2009 30 hrs later, my body gave way. Went home, slept, and am back at uni again. Almost there, Almost there. Another solid night and all that remain are the finishing touches

Guest Shivani Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 i've been sleepless at a stretch for 50-some-odd hours just a couple of months back ... !!! reason:- same as the creator of the thread !
kabira Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 I really do not understand need to go without sleep for more than 24 hours. For me its distratous, efficiency goes down, if you take a nap for 2-3 hours you can get your battery charged and get going. sorry I would never do it.

Disrupting your sleeping routine like many of us do is not healthy. It's easy to get absorbed in what you do and not notice the passing of time. That's the main reason I often get only 3-4 hours of sleep a night.
