Ajit Agarkar: He is a very talented bowler and a professional. At the age of 34 he knows exactly what to do. I think he has couple of years of cricket in him at this level and later he should take up coaching. He has vast experience of playing international cricket. At a very young age he has played international cricket. He knows exactly what a bowler needs and should think. He is a skiddy bowler and he bowls a very good Yorker. He is a good death overs bowler for us. He bowls a very good slower one, very good bouncer and he can mix them all up. He knows when to bowl what because of his experience. He is an excellent fielder and has got a very good arm. He can bat a bit. He comes as a very good package for us with his experience to bowl. Normally what happens in Twenty20 is, your best bowlers bowl in the powerplay and in the slog overs. Most of the teams have makeshift bowlers bowling in the middle, but for us Ajit Agarkar bowling in the middle overs is a big thing because then at the other end we can bowl a young bowler like [Pawan] Negi or somebody; so that is an advantage for us and these conditions help Ajit Agarkar also so he can skid the bowl much faster.

BCCI could have trolled England more by playing sir Aggy in India A :) He is a legend in any case. Everytime should be selected ahead of any Kumar.

No questions asked. Aggy cannot be ANY worse than current baallers we carry and his fielding can beat the likes of Raina (at least in the current form that Raina is when it comes to fielding).

I was talking about early and mid 2000s and that s when Agarkar should have done better. 2003- srinath retired, Agarkar should have grabbed his opportunity. He was always hit and miss sort of cricketer. Unfortunately his rpo(run per over) was over 5.2.

Agree, during 2002-05, Nehra, Zak and Srinath combo did better and they are one of the main reasons why India did so well during Ganguly's captaincy. Agarkar, unfortunately never got much chances after 2007 t 20 world cup.

Agarkar is the baap of all chokers.

Agarkar is a better batsman, bowler and fielder than many of the pacers currently playing in the Indian team. This doesn't mean that he is a good bowler but a reflection of how much we have degenerated. In the 2003 WC, there was no need for Sir Aggy, since Srinath, Zak and Nehra formed a lethal combo, and there were many other pacers who came through such as the likes of Irfan, Balaji and Munaf in 2004. Now, so many of our bowlers have fallen by the wayside that Aggy looks the best bet out there.
